Perhaps they should collect the Chinese entourage's cell phones, install tracking software, social media "scoring" applications and remove all GPS applications?

While they are there, blocking all mainland Chinese-based applications, especially WeChat and Baidu, would be good. Force them to use Line, play Minecraft, and use google for searching.

Set the background image to Winnie the Pooh holding a "Free Tibet, Free Taiwan, Free Hong Kong" sign.

I have a Gyoza Osho t-shirt. We should all wear those and chant for the freedom of the repressed that China is so determined to keep doing.

China calls for 'appropriate preparations' for Xi's visit to Japan

I think a diplomatic feast at CoCoIchi Curry would help repair relations. A quick stop to Gyoza Osho on the way to the airport would help make this a very successful trip.

Such negative views from stupid lawmakers highlights the truth that lies are not knowledge. Those people are not conservative at all. HongKong, Taiwan, Tibet, and Xinjiang are much better and faster developed than any tribes and cities across Japan. Give human right to the depressed, free land from the conquerors.

WilliB, bingo. Keep them away from the cameras so the folks at home can see a benign Japan. Folks at home will see a Japan that sees no problems in China. God Bless those that take the bait.

Abe will do anything to beg China for money to prop up the economy and pay off the debt, looked like he had a whale of a time with the journalist-slaying Saudi prince

By "appropriate preparations" they mean claming down on any demonstrations and any mention of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, Tienanmen, or the Uigurs. Got to love the coded language...

They’re afraid of China and will defer to Xi.

PM Shinzo Abe should be reminded that he is welcoming the President of the 'Land of Confucius ' who would certainly appreciate the noble gesture and thank Japan for actually practicing the teachings of the Great Sage during his State Visit.

What a way to showcase Chinese Culture, Magnanimity and Civility!

If Tokyo can invite Chairman Xi then why not the democratically elected president of the world's most Nippon friendly country on earth?

They’re afraid of China and will defer to Xi.

Japan can only make President Xi's visit fruitful and historically significant if PM Abe can arrange a mini summit on the sideline wherein the newly elected President English Tsai of ROC-TW can da-kine shake hands with one and all.

If Tokyo can invite Chairman Xi then why not the democratically elected president of the world's most Nippon friendly country on earth?

I remember all the demands they had when X visited the UK. Must have pissed off the Queen.

I second the idea of greeting him with large banners at the airport with the slogan "Free Hong Kong" and "Stop persecuting the Uyghurs"

And to make him feel even more welcome, take him to Disneyland to see Winnie the Pooh!

What does Xie fear? He has a nation under control, a neighbor whose technical secrets it has taken. A market for its cheap products, etc. What more can a modern day dictator want?

Free Tibet!

There should be large banners at the airport with the slogan "Free Hong Kong!

Then President Xi should be taken to his favorite Chinese restaurant in the middle of Shibuya while thousands of Japanese protest for Xi to respect the will of the people regarding Hong Kong AND Taiwan!
