Fighto!
"China criticizes [insert CCP agenda of the day]."
No one cares what you say, CCP.

This is probably the best indication you can get that it’s a good idea
BigP
Do the Chinese actually believe what they are saying? It beggars belief!

NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but it includes. the U.S., Turkey, etc., that are not North Atlantic countries. Will Ishiba's idea of the NATO-like alliance the same?

Chinese hypocrisy is always so blatant. I really don't think they have any real idea how they are seen. It's like an individual with no self-awareness. There are narcissistic individuals who are the same.

“NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but it includes. the U.S., Turkey, etc., that are not North Atlantic countries. Will Ishiba's idea of the NATO-like alliance the same?”
Of course. Ishiba’s idea of a NATO-like alliance would not work without US participation.

@Moon You may want to consider expanding your new sources.
"More Singaporeans based in the city state and abroad believe China's influence in Southeast Asia has grown in recent years compared with the US, according to findings of a new survey.
Most of those surveyed on their geopolitical attitudes by research company Verian also picked China as a strategic partner for security and survival over neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia, the US, Australia, Japan and Britain."
Most Singaporeans rate China's clout above US, prefer it as strategic

Asian NATO?
Better late than never!

"Hyped up the non-existent 'China threat'" Non-existent? An Asian NATO is needed for the VERY REAL China threat. It is needed now.
Fighto!
Part of the US is, of course, in the North Atlantic.
Back to JHS geography for you I'm afraid.

"China criticizes [insert CCP agenda of the day]."
First thing I thought too, lol.
China criticises Ishiba's choice of tie.
China criticises what Ishiba had for breakfast
China criticises punctuality of Japanese trains, alleges "monopolistic speed practices".

No need to hype anything up when China reminds everyone of the threat constantly, all by itself:
Territory stealing, ship ramming, water cannoning, trespassing in other countries' waters, threats to invade Taiwan, missile firing, cyber-attacks, aggressive rhetoric, etc., etc., etc.
Japan and others are: they're building alliances to stop China wreaking havoc.
noriahojanen
An Asian NATO is unconstitutional for Japan (It's not PKO!). Ishida should first amend the "peace" constitution's Article 9 in order to arrange a multilateral security framework.

He wants a Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere V2.0 that can hide behind the skirt of Uncle Sam and not be held accountable for past decisions.

I wouldn't trust Singapore at all either. It doesn't even take the side of fellow ASEAN nations as China takes over their territory. But whatever Singaporeans think, it doesn't change a thing about China's view of itself, or lack of it. For China, it looks like the nonsense it tells itself about itself is believed to be believed by everyone else. This is arrogance at its zenith, no doubt partly an echo of its historical self-regard.

Japan to "do more things that are conducive to maintaining regional peace and stability," Wu added.
And China continues intruding and harassing sovereign territory in her surrounding nations. China's words were totally different to its action.
Peter Neil
yes, japan should do more things for peace and stability like china, such as ramming ships on the open ocean, claim all of the south china sea up to a km or so of shanghai, explicitly claim to prepare to invade taiwan by 2027 and build up airfields out of shoals.

Oh right, the South China Morning Post!!
And from Wikipedia:
Since the change of ownership in the SCMP in 2016, concerns have been raised about the paper's editorial independence and self-censorship. Critics including **The New York Times, Der Spiegel, and The Atlantic have alleged that the paper is on a mission to promote China's soft power abroad.**

China pushes back on Japans attempt to bring a team together for collective defense with yet another (not even) veiled threat. Apparently the free world is to just subjugate themselves to their belligerent will. Surely they are just itching for a fight as a way to distract its population from the chronic and pressure problems from within their own Middle Kingdom.
China maybe quite happy to start world war three as a distraction! Let that sink in for a bit.

We already had SEATO until the USA's President Nixon sold us all so that he could schmooze up to China and use them as a lever against the USSR in the 1970s. Because of that, there's no longer any mutual defense pacts with Taiwan, let alone other Asian nations. At what point does America wake up and rectify its sins?
Umm, the USA is the depositary nation of NATO. What that means is, NATO is entrusted to America for which America cannot leave, nor can NATO exist without America. It was done so because of the events of WWII that I'm surprised that you have never heard about. All European nations were conquered, but one, the United Kingdom. Next time, they may not be so fortunate. As such, the Allied powers agreed to place NATO with the USA since an invasion of the USA by any nation is impossible.
As for Turkey, they control the strategic Bosphorus and Dardanelle Straits connecting the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas to the Black Sea controlled by Russia. No one can venture into or out of the other without Turkish permission. As such, NATO considers Turkey to be a strategic asset by which to hamper any war aspirations by Herr Putin.
I'm not even an American and I know this! Is school not taught anymore?

Chinese remarks are both irrelevant and incorrect as normal.
It is not up to China to choose who Japan chooses to ally with, exclusive or otherwise.
The threat is real and immediate.
You mean from Chinese military expansion and piratical maneuvers in the waters of Philippines.
Yes China opposes all who would challenge it or those who would defy it. Blah blah.
China losing respect daily from the international community. Add that to its imploding economy and so long China the great, soon to be China the irrelevant.

The only Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere V2.0 today is CHINA's aspirations for regional hegemony at the expense of all it's Asian neighbors.

China criticizes the idea of Asian countries banding together to protect themselves from China? Wow, didn't see that one coming.
Jennie
The top two comments said it all.
Pacificpilot
China’s Belt and Road venture is really an expansion of the old divide and conquer theme. It is easier to exploit its Asian neighbors when they are left to defend themselves alone. Bullies like China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, exploit weaker nation states when they are left to fend for themselves. This is why NATO is the biggest obstacle for Russian expansionism. Including Asian nation states in the NATO alliance will mutually benefit NATO and new Asian members while bringing peace and stability to Asia

China calls on Japan to "do more things that are conducive to maintaining regional peace and stability," Wu added.
.
Like giving Chinese pilots and ship helmsmen lessons on how to navigate and stay out of other country water.
