Hyperbole. China is throwing its toys out of the pram to deflect it screwing the pooch for 3 years.
Predictable and good tv fodder for the lunar New Year.
Stops people thinking about the protests, like Painkiller and our angry Weibo comrade, who predicted they'd go nowhere... (whoops)

China requires negative test results from visitors from all countries.
so….? Isn’t that discriminatory? There reaction is out of proportion absolutely bat crazy.
Fighto!
Pathetic, sad China. They just can't comprehend why the civilised world wishes to put even a tiny safety measure in place. Meanwhile China are sending virus-stricken tourists worldwide - possibly infected with new strains.
Would love to see Japan and Korea both retalliate by refusing visas to all Chinese nationals. Boy, would the tourist districts be nice, clean and peaceful for once!
Meiyouwenti
People working in the tourist industry must realize that the party is over and you simply cannot return to the pre-Covid days of 9 million Chinese tourists per year. Depending on foreigners’ money is always a bad idea.

Buahhhhh! Teacher! He said I'm mean. Buahhh!
Sigh. You need patience when dealing with kids.

There is picture on the train news tv of a "Chinese covid medicine factory".
It looks a bit like a milk processing plant with a clueless worker. I'm pretty sure any "tourists" who are unlucky enough to get into the country will NOT be trying steal any medical science secrets.
A disgrace China is so unprepared in 2023.

Chinese tourists need to turn their attention and spending to other places like South East Asia and other more welcoming places. Why spend money in a place you're not welcomed? Otherwise, help your own domestic tourism industry, which, contrary to what most foreigners think, has been doing really well recently.
kurisupisu
Met a family of Chinese tourists at the onsen today.
I hope they don’t get Rona here in Japan as I did!
Jennie
Retaliation my ass
Tano
Chinese people shouldn't be treated like criminals, there are very rude yes, they have no manners yes, they seem to be like animals yes, but they are not here to commit crime, they are here to spend a ton of money.... difficult decision to take when the money is in so much need here...

Actually I dont mind Chinese coming here and supporting my economy and then going back home.
If anything they will realize that things aren’t as they have been brainwashed to think.
James
Japan should retaliate the retaliation and do the same and not issue any new visas for Chinese.
Sven
Chinese retaliation is 100% justified. Per-capita Covid is almost certainly worse in Japan. The EU and USA took the novel approach of merely not reporting the number of new infections and deaths but still now, something is killing far more people than usually die.
Nemo
No, it’s not and there is ZERO evidence to support such a laughable baseless assertion.

China thinks it can dictate to the world. We have BIG BULLY on the Block. We need to remember China is a communist dictatorship. Nothing more, nothing less! They may have market forces, and private business, but they won't let any business criticize the government, so let's not confuse communism, dictatorship with democracy, freedom, and capitalism. Nobody, can believe the figures or announcements from the Chinese press or even the government itself.
Sven
According to the figures released by Chinese and Japanese authorities, Covid is far worse in Japan per-capita. Of course you will say, "but China lies about the figures" without a shed of evidence of that. While I know for a fact it's hard to get tested in Japan.
But the main problem as far as I can see it is Japan putting restrictions on Chinese travelers while it's so bad in the EU and USA, they stopped counting but no restrictions on those travelers.
Udondashi
It's time for China to apologize and compensate all countries in the world for the problems caused by COVID.
Enough is enough!!!

@Tano Are you serious?? When have you ever seen a money truck following a funeral procession? Its one thing spending money but but spreading a deadly virus is a no no!!!

@Awa no Gaijin You have a problem with reality. First how many people are trying to leave China? LMFAO if everyone could leave I am sure they would if they they had the finances to do so. Nearly all of the planes where Chinese are arriving are reporting the people are affected. You call this disinformation, I think you should research the definition and look at what China has done. Look at the morgues, look at the hospitals these reports are coming from Chinese citizens inside not from people on the outside, this so called disinformation is coming from Chinese citizen who are tired of the corrupt communist BS. LMFAO you wrote Believe what you want to Believe. Personally I don't think your logic gives anyone the thought of believing anything different or anything you ever post. In the US people are walking around WITHOUT MASK. The US got there numbers down. People got covid shots also they had a RIGHT TO REFUSE one. China who invented and spread this virus is trying to punish other countries because of their DISINFORMATION and lack of knowledge and human compassion for their own people expect the world over to BELIEVE them. The USA yes had a problem and yes the US got it under control, the US didn't lock their citizens up in their homes and communities forcing them to do swan dives out of their apartment killing themselves. With the virus spreading unchecked amongst China's 1.4 billion I don't blame the countries for not letting those citizens enter their countries. You have it all wrong most people don't dislike Chinese people it is the phucked up government that brain washes people like you to promote their unethical illogical ideologies. Just as you wrote lets hate China, I can agree with that but I don't hate the Chinese people. Your problem is you have a deep hatred for the US as you said "That's just truly pathetic".
All total disinformation !
Believe what you want to Believe.
Hasn't even been long enough for the death toll to be anywhere near the USA or other countries.
Let's all hate China
That's just truly pathetic.

This is embarrassing, America lives in your head rent free. This article is about Japanese and Chinese relations and doesn’t even mention the US yet somehow you circle around to seething about America
Bob Pns
The evidence is literally posted in the article.
”In a first, China's health authorities - which have been reporting five or fewer deaths a day over the past month, numbers that are inconsistent with the long queues seen at funeral homes - did not report COVID fatalities data on Tuesday.”
Try actually reading the article you’re commenting on
theFu
Total BS. New cases, deaths and more are reported in the US by county, daily. You could see it if bothered to look. So many lies from Chinese paid posters, as usual.
https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home
Plus, the data is the most accurate available, unlike the politically tweaked numbers from China or non-existent numbers since early December. Visibility is open to the world.
Looks like much of the world is reporting their data to the WHO https://covid19.who.int/table/ ... except China. The world would have more sympathy if China shared accurate information. Last week, Taiwan offered to help China. Of course, the CCP couldn't accept, because they'd loose face. More Chinese mainland deaths. I suppose that's one way China can manage population.
Samit Basu
This is for the best for both sides.
Korean and Japanese governments wouldn't want their citizens to travel to China right now, and China's doing it for them instead of them imposing travel ban.
painkiller
China has the right to implement whatever rules it wants.
Bob Pns
True, and we have the right to compare China to a baby throwing a temper tantrum

Or, in other words, you have the right to complain about something for which you have no control.
Bob Pns
I wouldn’t call it complaining, more like laughing at China acting like a toddler. Trust me nobody here is complaining that they can’t go to China lol

At the same time, China state media doesn't care and is not listening to what we say.
Or maybe they do and are.

Having China as a neighbor had the visa situation always made a difficult journey.
How about some awareness from the Chinese side?
They are just too many in numbers.
Buncoqaq
People who wholeheartedly believe in accelerationism are the most irresponsible revolutionaries and deconstructionists. They are eager to change the status quo, but they have not thought about what kind of path to choose after changing the status quo.
Buncoqaq
The fact that the right-wing government, non-government, and corporate forces in the United States are so keen to promote neo-accelerationism is one of the results of the inability and lack of effectiveness of the left.
Buncoqaq
At present, China is relatively stable compared to the United States. The idea of "unlawful and aggressive" proposed by "accelerationism" is actually a conspiracy of the United States.
