“Japan should ... shape up a right perception of China,

Japan has the correct perception of China. China is a danger to all in the region.

pursue a positive, pragmatic and rational China policy,

Japan's China policy is rational and pragmatic but can not be positive while China's actions and attitude is negative and hostile.

and uphold the right direction of peaceful development," Xinhua quoted Yang as saying.

Japan has upheld peaceful development for the past seventy years, it is China that exhibits hostile and forceful development at the cost of neighbors.

Begging China to

No country is "begging" anything from China. Please get over yourself.

What would CCP lose if Taiwan is to be an independent sovereign nation?

Taiwan shows that Chinese people in a democratic framework have been far more connected to international trade, with a far higher level of wealth, technology, for much longer.

The CCP can not tolerate the living example of a superior alternative for Chinese people.

They lose their conceited status in the eyes of the people they dictate.

Who decides what the right perception of China is?

According to China, China gets to decide that.

Japan has more claim to Taiwan than China does. It actually governed the islands, unlike China.

The Chinese assistant foreign minister suggested that there were about 110 Chinese restaurants preparing mainland Chinese dishes in Taipei.

Baidu Maps show that there are 38 Shandong dumpling restaurants and 67 Shanxi noodle restaurants in Taipei. Palates don't cheat.

Ref: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4619348

Let's take that argument forward - does food matter for who the correct government should be?

There are about 10,000 Japanese restaurants in Taiwan.

There are 150 Japanese restaurants in Beijing.

There are about 8,500 KFCs in China. Guess China needs to be returned to Kentucky too. ;)

The CCP-foreign minister also said

If Scotland were to collude with external forces and split itself from the UK, would the UK remain calm, show restraint, sit by and watch the situation deteriorate?

Ref: https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/xwfw_665399/s2510_665401/2511_665403/202208/t20220811_10741637.html

The Scottish people voted to remain part of the UK and Scotland is a separate country.

It just shows how clueless and tone deaf the CCP is.

Why are we even discussing this? The CCP is clueless. Saying something wrong 50,000x doesn't change facts.

By the same token, what would North and South Korean would lose if they would not be able to be unified?

It is Korean Pride as some North-flavored tribalists believe that the peninsula has been historically tossed around by surrounding powers(which is true). If the same ethnic groups must erase scattered borders to be unified , imagine how drastic changes would be made on the world map.

Japan is being sensible and trying to play a moderating role as it usually has done.

In an incident reported widely on social media, a Chinese woman wearing a traditional Japanese kimono dress was recently detained by police in the eastern city of Hangzhou for allegedly creating a disturbance

In our current world, no police in any countries detain women wearing china dress Hàn fú

Because Japan invaded Formosa Taiwan and colonized them for 50 years.

You need to remember that Formosa Taiwan had achieved recognized independence before Japan colonized it

Japan did not "invade" Taiwan. It was ceded by China (Qing Dynasty) to Japan in accordance with the Treaty of Shimonoseki in 1895 which ended the Sino-Japanese War.

You can't "invade" something that has already become yours.

-If Taiwan was independent in 1895, how chould China hand it over to Japan?

Boy, THERE is a happy couple....

Utterly depressing, isn't it?

I bet they converse using slightly stern voices too.

A smile and a bit of charisma can go a long way.

Japan initiated this meeting to express Japan's outrage, but got an ass whooping instead for not having a write perception of China.

And as for Taiwan.

status quo of de facto independence while maintaining robust economic ties with China.

That gives China a wrong message! Taiwan needs to make a choice independence or assimilation. Can't have your cake and eat it.

@AndyPanda I guess that why we have a left of the brain and a right side of the brain to think right?. But that to never works!

We all know this expression: divide and conquer. So we had East Germany and West Germany; North Vietnam and South Vietnam. No more. They reunited for the better or worse. We still have North Korean and South Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan. India became India and Pakistan. USSR became Russia, etc. Imagine all these countries re-unite!

Begging China to

That was the typo error.

Recognized by which nations?

What would CCP lose if Taiwan is to be an independent sovereign nation? It is just Chinese pride. Those so called western posters should really look back how western powers have treated China ( I mean then-ruling dynasties of the area and Asians ) and repent.

Well threatening China with aircraft battle groups and causing war on the other side of the North Pacific may have some impact. Especially from a country with a history of regime change and developing/promoting coups.

Begging China to cripple any maritime trade lane and flows of resources toward Japan. China can turn Japan and South Korea back to the Dark Ages without firing shots. Blockade the straight of Taiwan and its surrounding waters for more than a year is good enough.

Japan now does this after conducting a begging round with India and ASEAN a few months ago.
