Yuri: "The "Japanese started it" is a bunch of cow manure as if it was not that there would be another excuse."

Japan DID start it, with Ishihara's call to buy the islands in April. That was what sent things off. I know you don't like to admit it, but your nation started this escalation as such. The J-media certainly seems to forget this fact, but I'm surprised you are buying into it, Yuri, given your hatred of the central government over how they treat Okinawans. But hey, flip-flops have often been your thing.

Nobody cares about the event and the bilateral relationship. But the cold war mindset grows in Japan

China is not a safe place to visit now!!!

neither Japan, because they are waiting for war

I think if things get worse, it might cancel instead for this year.

'Tis a shame, though I doubt there will be any tears.

It was a rhetorical question, cracaphat; this all started with Ishihara's April announcement that he intended to raise money to buy the islands. So Japan made the first move. But come on... tell us how Japan is the victim.

China can't even find their vice president at the moment. Let's see if they postpone the party congress next.

Japan never offer any official apology to China for Japanese invasion in WWII.

so@efisher, then China should have made an apology from Japan a condition for restoring diplomatic relations. Demanding one 40 years after the fact, or 67 years after the war, shows that Chinese negotiating skills are nonexistent.

funny some poster suggest that this all started ONLY last April, like this problem just suddenly appears out of the blue. What about the chinese captain that rammed his boat on the JCG last year or countless childish bickering by both sides over the years? With China growing, this is bound to happen. Too bad they cant just bully their way against Japan unlike what they do to poorer countries in SEAsia so all they do is throw tanrums.

Japan will be the ultimate loser in the confrontation with China, we'll see.

Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia and all those other SE Asian countries being bullied by the reds should band together and strike back. You never really hear about Japan-hate from these countries, well maybe Taiwan. I long for the day that China implodes internally - dirty commies cannot go on like this, we all saw it happen in 89 in Europe, watch it happen in 2013 in China.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

South Korea should do the same too.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I would be alright if Taiwan got them only if Red China reconciled them as a sovereign nation. Otherwise it is like handing them over to the communists. What if they reunite?

thywillbedone: Just cancel the stupid event china, now, and for ever. Nobody in Japan cares.

Great! why not just break off relations with PRC to show real actions rather than just empty words? Taiwan'll consider JP's apology to resume friendship if JP's sincere.

virtuoso: "So then let's commemorate next Thursday by breaking off diplomatic relations."

And whom is that going to help? Trade between the two nations is in the hundreds of millions, and Japan depends first and foremost on the world's second largest economy: China.

@smithinjapan.. How could "Japan" have started this if it were buying if from Japanese private citizens? China started this row when it heard from Japan that there were precious minerals and resources and only then did it give a damn. Personally I feel it belongs to Taiwan, and that Taiwan is a sovereign nation in itself. China is being the bully, always has, for hundreds of years before Japan was known as Japan.

What self respecting Japanese person cares about the postponement of such a meaningless event with such a vulgar country like red china? What a laugh. Just cancel the stupid event china, now, and for ever. Nobody in Japan cares.

Ishihara first msade he statement in April 2012. Chinese activists have been visiting the Senkakus since 1996. You sure know how all this started.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Come on, cracaphat, tell us how this all started.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

yosun - of course Japan must give the middle finger to red china, but I don't know about the practicality of severing diplomatic relations.

The problem is not the islands. The problem is, red china expects Japan to kowtow to beijing like some Coolie to a Mandarin. It will never happen - therefore, infuriated, red china employed ignorant mobs to try to influence foreign affairs. Thankfully, Japan just ignored this, and we foreigners enjoyed watching rioter make their dirty county more dirty, and displaying their vulgarity and savagery by calling for the deaths of Japanese people. Of course, this was orchestrated by the red chinese government, thus, this is their political philosophy; ergo, red china is unambiguously the enemy of the Japanese people, about this there is no debate.

So, on Sep. 27th, let us commemorate the fact that we have a clear understanding that red china is NO friend of the people of Japan.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Japan didn't started this BECAUSE JAPAN IS OWNER OF SENKAKU ISLANDS.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

cracaphat: "They started these recent squabbles with their B.S...."

Evidently you buy into the J-media's version of who started this. Tell me, how did China start this? And before you answer know that I know how this all actually started.

The ceremony was due to take place on Sept 27.

So then let's commemorate next Thursday by breaking off diplomatic relations.

Hopefully the Mao loving troublemaker is in prison. In a Chinese prison water boarding is a fun past time compared to the torture they get.

Problem is this event could of been used to get the negotiating process restarted. Canceling it ups the pressure to go to war. China is talking itself to attack Japan. The "Japanese started it" is a bunch of cow manure as if it was not that there would be another excuse.
