Japan's door is open but China keeps breaking the windows all the time.

Good lord, here we go again and again and again.

And then the anti Japan crowd has the audacity to criticize Japanese as all being xenophobic, ignorant, hateful war mongers.

Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, the fact that the leaders of the two countries have not met in nearly two years is troublesome. Too much chance for mistakes being made given the frequent military interactions around the Senkaku's.

That would be true if Xi had rather strong control of PLA.

Like Abe said, 'his door is always open'. Perhaps China should stop with these prerequisites for a meeting.

japan must stand up strong to china and south and north korea.

japan must stan tall bro++++++++++

The CCP know what will happen if they do a backflip after all the hate they've stirred up.

And not just against Japan either.

Politics vs common sense. Guess which comes first.

Thanks for clarifying, I guess you're right, going by Papi's past posts :).

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has yet to meet Chinese leaders since he returned to power late in 2012,

Policy? What policy?

Strangerland, China and Korea are better at rewriting their own histories. Their war criminals have been whitewashed by the general population. In Japan it is only a few who think the war criminals were not guilty. However, most people do not want to hear about it all of the time.

"China says no change in policy on improving ties with Japan", a face-saving expression which should be paraphrased "there is a change in China's policy and they will shelve their conditions for meeting Abe and Xi will meet him in APEC."

Papi2013: Japan doesn't need China. Japan doesn't need anybody. Japan can go it alone.

'K, bye, stay healthy.

Again it's Nikkei? focused on non-economic controversial news reporting these days.

I've never imagined that highball7 was an American. So, then must be Chinese American who only cares about his homeland interest. highball7 Be an American like you "claimed" and try to get on American side for once would you?

I sometimes wonder whether the Chinese spokespersons themselves belief what they have to announce to the public? Probably not, unless they have been brainwashed. Their denial is impressively staggering!

China must face up to reality, show sincerity, take concrete actions and make efforts to eliminate political obstacles that affect the development of bilateral relations.

Corrected, for the country that is in denial about its place in the world.

China needs to get a life. I often read like japan wants to improve relation but china is still living in its past. china really needs to move on now. There`s nothing that china can do change its past (unless it have a time machine).

Japan needs to mind its own business and drop all support for Republic of China and Republic of Korea. All they do is cause heartache for the people of Japan. The Peoples Republic of China and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea hate Japan about the same as the previous two governments. Japan needs to find out how the American blackmail us into doing their bidding and eliminate it. Believe Japan can defend ourselves from both China and Korea. If they continue to hate us we need to give them the "Hawaii happiness gesture" and move forward.

Wasn't it her father-in-law who invited the Japanese? Power struggle in the Palace?

Doesn't make it right .... switch JP and KR and you wouldn't like it, right? Undying JP enmity for KR race in that instance not unthinkable?

But both our comments on this were already whacked by the Mod(s) once. So don't expect this to be up long.

turbotsat many things going on at that time. Just criticizing Japan is not only not fair but not objective and that we can learn nothing from it. You never try to see the positive side of anything. There is one thing for sure: Japan lost a lot from the Korean annexation. So, Japan never wants to be invloved with Koreans.

turbotasat, I think Papi2013 used sarcasm.

elephant200Aug. 30, 2014 - 10:51AM JST Mr Fukuda is a good person but i am afraid his efforts might goto be vain because the Abe regieme has nothing >interest of reform but a revival of militarisms, he is looking backwards, he wants japan go back to fascist era is wgat he >means, Abe is looking for conflicts. LOL. I guess that's why all the western democratic powers support what Abe is doing with Japan's military. The only ones who object are fascist China and its tributary state South Korea. Have you started your Mandarin lessons yet?

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

don't think you can drive a wedge between US and South Korea in favor of Japan.

Nobody would. Japanese want to drive a wedge between Japan and SK. You can take SK all you want.

Thank you China for this very clear and concrete roadmap for improving Sino-Japanese relations. LOL

Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

All they do is cause heartache for the people of Japan.

No, that's not all. Both countries are huge trading partners with Japan. Without that trade the Japanese economy would collapse.

I often read like japan wants to improve relation but china is still living in its past.

Japan wants to improve relations as long as they can continue rewriting history.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Back to the "well they did it too" line of defence.

The financial times is a UK press not funded by China's ministry of propaganda
