"Hyping up the so-called China threat to find an excuse for its military build-up is doomed to fail," Wang said at a daily news briefing.

This ^^ being the case, we know the new strategy will be effective against at least one adversary, China.

Time to send Japanese Ships to Taiwan.

A ‘squadron’? Does that not refer to aircraft? Do three ships make up a squadron??

Interesting that China sails through these areas. which are international waters but doesn’t like it when others sail through the Taiwan Strait, also international waters

Soon and when Japan starts showing force and displays it's capabilities, these actions of Harassment Will End.

The Chinese harbor (to this day) grudges against Japan for injustices and there is a desire for revenge which is very apparent.

What is the source of your information?

So China is sailing through international waters, where's the news here, simply the media spreading fear.

WOW! Big news.... China sails ships in international waters... Just like every other navy in the world.

I wonder if this story is anyway connected to the another story on JT about increased spending on arms and a "threat" from China.

Japan’s Defense Ministry said the craft were closely shadowed by Japanese ships and planes throughout.

this is clear harassment and against the “freedom of navigation” in international waters. We should officially apologize.

Following warships near your interests is common practice for all Navies and Coast Guards.

Sailing in International Waters doesn't mean you aren't watched, just that nobody will get in your way.

It isn't like China had warships on the eastern side of Taiwan for a few weeks and fired live rounds recently. Oh, sorry, it is EXACTLY like that.

Do three ships make up a squadron??

Yes, naval vessels have squadrons. The US Navy has Destroyer Squadrons abbreviated DESRONs on both coasts. Squadrons are typically three to ten ships. The US Navy had an Asiatic Squadron from 1868 (formed out of the disbanded East India Squadron) and was upgraded to fleet status in 1902. In 1907 it was again downgraded to become the 1st Squadron of the US Pacific Fleet, but in 1910 it was reorganized as the Asiatic Fleet.

The Marine Corps new Littoral Regiments and their mobile ground launched anti-ship missiles NSM and Tomahawk will ensure the PLAN cannot easily make such passages in the event of a war without suffering severe losses. Ground based Tomahawks in the JGSDF will likewise make it dangerous for the Chinese to sail between Japanese controlled islands. They can sail there to their hearts content in peacetime but if they start something up with Japan and the US they will find the straits between those islands will become very dangerous to them.

The "China" that was a US ally is now Taiwan. Which not only harbors no hatred for WWII but actually is allied with Japan.

The "China" that perpetuates anti-Japan WWII hatred is the PRC, which did not even exist until 4 years after WWII ended.

It was very clever of the Peopes Republic of China (PRC/PROC/Communist China/Red China) to market themselves as "China" to confuse the uneducated.

Those ships were practicing freedom of navigation in the West Pacific!

@Awa no Gaijin

That's only because Japan colonized Taiwan for 50 years and infiltrated the bloodline and built infrastructure.

Yes there are still those living in Taiwan that despise the Japanese for taking the sovereign and independent republic of Formosa.

And then there's the aboriginal tribes of Malay that are still not being treated fairly

So it's not true to say there's no hatred or animosity in Taiwan over ww2

Taiwanese are Chinese that colonized the ancestral lands of the aboriginal Malay tribe's

May be the democratic Taiwanese believe the modern Japanese government is better than Communist China!

You clearly have no idea how anything works, and even less of an idea of what you’re talking about.

How could the world ever forget.

Experiencing events firsthand and retaining a memory is different from reading or hearing accounts of those events years later. Even in the former case memories can change. The experience of recalling events may intensify or soften them. This is a fact and it is normal. In the later case a new generation without firsthand experience reads about them and, in effect, creates their own memories also subject to change. Again, to be intensified or softened.

Parties, whether governmental or other, know this very well and exploit it for various purposes. Putin manipulates Russians with references to the “Great Patriotic War” and Xi’s regime and trolls manipulate young Chinese with references to the IJA’s atrocities in China.

Again, there are facts on which honest researchers can agree but there are also those who would try to reshape memory for their own uses.

Beware narratives based on “outrages” of the past.

China will send many more ships in the coming months.

Be prepared.

It might be too late.
