It is not just about "militarizing the region", it also sounds like environmental crimes of the highest order. Here we are wringing our hands about the state of reefs in the world and the massive bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef and China is destroying them wilfully for its pathetic geo-political gambit.

China is making a hostage from every economic partner, using bilateral trade for blackmail in order to get what they want. "If you want trade with us, don't do this or don't say that". The sooner China is cut loose, the sooner the world will return to stability. The economy thrives with honest economic partners, not with those using blackmail, counterfeit, robbery, exploitation or extortion. Those investing in China today will have reasons to worry. The Chinese demand to surrender IP as a condition to operate in China should be a red flag for anyone who can see beyond the nose.

Politics and diplomacy go together in pursuit of peaceful process in foreign relation of a member nation in international or world organization. A nation member is to follow the rules. Not dictate in the highest order breaking international norms.
