"China wraps up anti-Japan propaganda campaign"

It should be "China educates Japanese the correct history"

-17 ( +9 / -27 )

So when is the next propaganda program scheduled to begin?

7 ( +20 / -12 )

China educates selectively and has no credibility lecturing japan. China is the country that can't even discuss what Mao did, how many he killed, and what the CCP did in Tiananmen. Lecturing the Japanese on events 70 years ago is transparently a ruse to divert Chinese's attention from the horrors that the Chinese communist party themselves did in the much more recent past.

14 ( +23 / -9 )

So when Japanese officials, including those in government and at the national broadcasting agency, and the movie industry embark on a campaign to whitewash and glorify their own wartime history, that's NOT also a "propaganda campaign"? Gimme a break.

"So when is the next propaganda program scheduled to begin?"

No doubt, in reaction to Japan's next propaganda campaign. Let's see how that new Kamikaze movie fares.

-6 ( +10 / -16 )

We, with U.S. aid, should conduct military drills in the Senkakus. Let's see what they have to offer. Japan no longer is the bullied boy.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

This year's propaganda campaign was pretty good. We can't wait till the next campaign comes!

7 ( +7 / -1 )

So when is the next propaganda program scheduled to begin?

Ossan -- probably as soon as Japanese "leaders" stop giving it so much ammunition:

Those included comments by officials at public broadcaster NHK, one of whom denied the Nanking massacre - in which China claims 300,000 civilians and disarmed soldiers were killed - happened at all. Another downplayed the Imperial Army’s use of sex slaves, an issue that has chilled Japan’s relations with South Korea as well.

Japan is giving itself a black eye. And while China's reaction is certainly over-the-top, neither country can be accused of acting in a mature manner -- Both governments pull out the nationalistic card way too often.

2 ( +13 / -11 )

Yes, Nanjing. Yes, comfort women. Yes, yes, yes.

Having said that, the Chinese Communist Party has killed far more Chinese than the Imperial Army ever did.

10 ( +16 / -6 )

Being enraged at Japanese war crimes from more than 70 years ago made me forget briefly about Tibet, the Falun Gong, Uygurs and why there is a massive poverty gap between the Chinese coastal cities and the inland areas. In other words, it is good propaganda. I hope the Japanese right keeps muttering crap that helps alleviate fears about the economy and Fukushima radiation at home and foul Communist totalitarian antics abroad.

Everyone whitetrash history on this planet,on lesser or bigger way, but Japan do not spread hate against China, Korea, nor US with their movies and dramas , while on other hand , Korea and China are constant in promoting hate toward Japan .And bdw its a fact that that Japan has long time history of evading making movies that promote hate toward another country , or nation .

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Everyone whitetrash history on this planet,on lesser or bigger way, but Japan do not spread hate against China, Korea, nor US with their movies and dramas ,

Nenad -- literrally correct, but there are numerous instances of Japanese nationalists using hate speech aimed at Korean residents. So much so that it became a topic for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. So while not officially sanctioned in Japan, it does exist right below the surface.

-8 ( +8 / -16 )

JohnBecker: Having said that, the Chinese Communist Party has killed far more Chinese than the Imperial Army ever did.

And having said that, the CCP's ascension is also on the heads of the Japanese Imperial Army.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Not to defend Japanese aggression in WWII, but 1) that was over 70 years ago, and 2) ask China about Tibet.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...

8 ( +13 / -5 )

More puffs from the Chinese "Ministry of Propaganda".

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Totally unnecessary of China, it feels like Chian wants to light a war to invade and crush Japan in the exact way that the japanese invaded China in 1894 and in 1937 and almost destroyed China! Japan loss its shakalin island and the Kuril islands to the USSR after WWII, and of course Japan wants those islans back, but the japanese are not acting with propaganda against Russia. Propaganda is a dangerous course of thinking and ideology and can in the worst case result in a terrible war!! Acting with propaganda towards a country is not the best way, we have an example, Ukraine and Russia. Russia used propaganda to "activate" the rebels in Ukraine and now Russia are supplying the rebels with medicates and weapons, wich results that civilians get killed. Very risky and a dangerous act of agression of Chian against Japan!!!:(

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Another day, another 'anti Japan' blathering/campaign/lunacy from the Chinese government.

Wake me up when something different comes out of China.

Let me educate you on what a democracy is. It is a society where individuals are free to express their views regardless of whether it ay be good, bad, right, wrong, stupid, tasteless or crazy. When some head of a TV network makes some comment China jumps on it like it came from the Government of Japan, and represents the country, That is exactly what you are doing, In China it is actually "illegal: to express a view that is counter to or contradicts the official view of he CCP dictatorship. Maybe that's why Chinese feel that individual Japanese' comments reflect the view of the whole country. What's your excuse?

7 ( +14 / -7 )

The top comment is correct, but if they keep doing this, the west must put sanctions on them, if not, mass people will die in the blood is on their hands. It's in their hands as they know what propaganda is and its 100% clear china is taking the war path, and is going to start wars in the area killing mass people.

Why America and the west are playing dumb, blocking it out, is beyond me. I mean something so simple as 10% sanctions on growth would have some effect, if not, you are beyond positive they are aiming for a massive war as they refuse to spot this war propaganda, that will be on their starting wars, dropping nuclear bombs on another country and so on. This propaganda is a very bad sign, and the west, including America, are f... young idiots to not act. If they don't act now, someone in 20 years time will not act unto its 2 late. Markets and the economy is why they have not acted, and in another 20 years time, they will hesitate to act 20 * more "as" their market will be massive and they will have $40 trillion saved up, their own $ system and own all west bonds and markets. The people in 1997 were thinking "one can stop them" and that did not happen as the world economy "100%" now needs china. China new this around 2004+ and then started there full lying and dyeing, getting busted, Knowing the west was too dumb and stupid to act. All the lies and hacking going on and manipulation of their dollar, starting trouble in the area, showing propaganda for public backing for the war, is an outright disaster in the making. If we don't punish them right now, expect well over 100 million people 2 dies easy. If Hitler had the nuclear bomb he 100% would of used it. Don't even need to talk about what they do to the Jews, i mean monks. once in that P, you will see.

China's full scale denying, only turning out to be true, it's beyond a sign. Hearing China's then Ruler making statements after statements of "groundless" but it was not, as they did it, is a sign of their real intentions and what is 100% going 2 be. Letting china hack the Tec save up $20 trillion is a joke, And we don't even punish them at all. We have learnt nothing from ww2 and how close it could of been and was. The fact the west doesn't care about mass people dying in the area, is also a good reason why we don't deserve another chance again. America thinks they're safe as the war will only kill mass millions in the area, not them "yet".

America is a joke and are a bunch of murdering sons of a bitc&es. Propaganda is the last straw, but yet, they don;'t care. Japan you have to get nuclear weapons.

"Make peace and make money. It's a better path."

Unfortunately war mongering and its eventual conflict is incredibly profitable to the elite few who advocate it and force it on the general populace via propaganda or conscription, or both. Wars will rage on until we can find a system that removes power from the elitist few and gives actual power to the people themselves as a whole. There is no political system in the world today, or before, that has actually achieved this!

China needs to divert her people's attention from domestic issues though it is very difficult for them to do so. An acquaintance of mine who was chatting recently to a well-connected person from China was told that 63,000 Communist Party officials have so far been picked up in President Xi Jinping’s corruption purge, and there have been three assassination attempts on Xi just this year. The arrest of Zhou Yongkang, the former head of the police force and state security, two weeks ago, was of huge significance. Zhou was the most feared politician in China because he has all the dirt on the other politicians. It would have been like Richard Nixon having J. Edgar Hoover arrested: he certainly wanted to, but didn’t dare. But President Xi has done it, and he arrested Bo Xilai, another powerful warlord, plus 63,000 other crooks. No wonder they are trying to kill him. China’s corruption purge is incredible. Apparently, bankers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Zurich are trembling, waiting for the phone call from Beijing explaining that a certain deposit of millions, or perhaps billions, does not belong to the depositor, and the Party wants it back. In fact most senior Communist Party leaders are billionaires. According to Bloomberg, Xi Jinping himself is worth $300 million. Every mayor of every town has at least $50 million. So it's not surprising that China is on an anti-Japan campaign again!

10 ( +10 / -1 )

So-called anti-Japan propaganda means Patriotic education in China, we are bombarded with warring dramas on TV, newspaper.

Since the episode are so ultra-real and hilarious, we often take it as comic or friction joy.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Is China helping Abe's way of Japan militarization? Each time China increased campaign, Abe create how to militarize Japan. Abe stopped to amend constitution and now re-interpretation idea he is promoting. Not Japanese people but China is the one who want Japan to militarize.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Vietnam may despise America for killing their people, but they don't wrap themselves up in so much anti-american sentiment that it totally takes their eyes off progress

5 ( +9 / -4 )

serendipitous: China needs to divert her people's attention from domestic issues though it is very difficult for them to do so.

Maybe that's it. Wen Jiabao's mother is an elderly retired schoolteacher who also happens to own a $120M investment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wen_Jiabao#Personal_life_and_family_wealth

His mother Yang Zhiyun (also known as Yang Xiu’an) owns an investments in Ping An Insurance worth $120 million.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@Nedad

"but Japan do not spread hate against China, Korea, nor US..."

That's because Japan has never been invaded by a murderous enemy for over a last thousand years. When the US invaded Japan, it created peace, democracy and prosperity. When the Japanese invaded China and Korea, they created hell on Earth, with millions of people slaughtered. Your comparison is utterly ridiculous.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Japan should learn from Germany !

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

To add to my other comment. Japan you need to get nuclear weapons.

Japan needs to show china they can get them. China is so big, it's well known 30 nuclear weapons would not kill them hiding underground, and the Chinese government 100% made that clear and thinks they're safe.. Japan needs to get nuclear weapons and needs to invest $20 billion in finding all / mass of their nuclear proof bunkers. Japan then needs to say as a 1 off " there here and here and here" we can do it again" and will show china and the world them as a 1 off. Its a 1 off and we can find them, and are also changing tactics 2, as we did here as well.. After we say this 1 off, we will never tell you again.

That will send a clear message, and will show them they know where they are, and that they are not as safe as they think they are because of the size of their country. That will make them think twice.

Japan needs to make nuclear weapons and spend $20 billion on Intel. They need to put the money in delivery tech of them weapons, that can turn into 6 missiles from one, amp and other tech.

Ossan -- don't presume to lecture me on what a democracy is, especially as it is practiced in Japan -- since I spent ten years there, and paid NHK fees. Have you? NHK is not just a "TV network" as your semantics would like to pretend. It is the officlal national broadcaster and funded by fees paid by the residents of Japan, as well as subsidies from the government. In addition it falls directly under the control of the Ministry of Education and Communication and the Board of Governors serves at the pleasure of the PM, so when the Chairman speaks, he is not just an "individual"

But if you don't believe me, let's see what the Asahi Shinbum had to say about him:

Governors and managing directors at Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) are showing clear signs that they are fed up with the antics of Chairman Katsuto Momii. On the day Momii received a second warning for his comments, some governors talked about firing the new chairman of the public broadcaster while his subordinates openly defied his instructions.

So, tell me Ossan, if the managing directors and other Governors of NHK are upset at what he said, why can't China weigh in on that sunbect? Maybe because he's not just any "individual" as you'd like to make us believe.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

China and Korea, so pitiful to be filled with hatred all the time. These countries worked so hard to be part of the world but still have not deserved the credit they so crave. Credit for their industries sparked and developed by and copied from Japan? Credit for their international level diplomacy? Credit is not due to those who perpetuate hatred, intimidation, aggression, foul language. To those who lack modesty, respect when they are in order.

5 ( +9 / -3 )

jerseyboy. do employees of NHK regardless of position represent the nation of Japan or the government of Japan? Do they have the legal authority to do so? A simple yes or no will suffice.

So, tell me Ossan, if the managing directors and other Governors of NHK are upset at what he said, why can't China >weigh in on that subject?

Sino-Japanese Treaty of Preace and Friendship 1972 reaffirmed 1978

ARTICLE 1 (1)."The Contracting Parties shall develop relations of perpetual peace and friendship between the two countries on the basis of the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, NON-INTERFERENCE IN EACH OTHER'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS, equality and mutual benefit and peaceful co-existence."

ARTICLE 3. "The Contracting parties shall, in the good-neighborly and friendly spirit and in conformity with the principles of equality and mutual benefit and NON-INTERFERENCE IN EACHOTHER'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS.

But then considering how China is dealing with the Senkakus it's not surprising:

Article1(2) ." The Contracting Parties confirm that, in conformity with the foregoing principles and the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, they shall in their mutual relations settle all disputes by peaceful means and shall refrain from the use or threat of force."

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Might wanna double check those figures Zichi. According to your statement at least 10mill were killed over 5 years ???

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Japan is always so eager to whitewash their atrocities starting from a century ago just as China tries to avoid their own cultural revolution atrocities. But just you wait. 70 years from 1966 and the people in China will be discussing the events of the cultural revolution. And after 70 years from 1989, they will be debating the TianAnmen incident. As soon as Abe is gone and a more pragmatic leader emerges, the disagreements will also subside. China is now stronger and more confident to face their past humiliation and suffering without feeling inferior. In the past, Mao pretended to be strong and refused to admit that China was brought to her knees by Japan. So he kept everyone quiet and went about his ill fated cultural revolution. It was only after he died many years later that Deng was able to open China up. Now that they are better placed militarily and economically, they are brave enough to face their defeat and suffering under imperial Japan.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

IF China could CLAIM and take hawaii they would BUT they KNOW that's there END GAME they may be stupid but not crazy!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Is it propaganda or is it history?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Clearly the Communists running China need a foreign distraction to keep their own people from paying attention to them. The Japanese politicians Do seem to play down the past but China is no better. How many hundreds of millions were murdered by Mao as he raped little girls he used basically as sex slaves?

I am this king the decades China has occupied Tibet and the whose people ate treated is equally an atrocity. Especially considering the occupation continues.

China is also doing what Putin is. Both know the liberal progressives running the UN,the western countries and most world organization will completely back down on issues like Tibet or spratly islands by telling themselves better to let China keep Tibet so they can pretend peace is maintained. In the mind of a progressive, their fantasy ideals are more important than people. They will allow land to be taken and people sacrificed to keep their delusions. China and Russia knows this and will use it to advantage

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Farmboy, excellent comments. Nanking and the sex slave issues are real, they're just blown out of proportion -- by 25%? 50%? 300%? it doesn't matter, really -- for political ends.

As usual, they also ignore the background that the events were happening in. "How could Japan be so horrible as to forge an empire out of the countries around it?" Well every country had an empire, except the U.S., which had one anyway, we just pretended we didn't for the sake of being moral. Stop and study the bloodbath that was the Philippine war against the U.S. a century ago. No one is clean, yet only Japan is eternally punished for doing what ever country did, to a degree.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I am getting a little worried.

China cannot continue doing this anti-Japan propaganda. It is not good to the world, not good to China, not good to japan.

But who can stop China? The answer is nobody. Good luck to East Asia. China has today what Japan always wanted to have. Political influence over the world.

FernandoUchiyamaAug. 18, 2014 - 06:55PM JST But who can stop China? The answer is nobody. Good luck to East Asia. China has today what Japan always wanted >to have. Political influence over the world.

The world can stop China. And China may stop itself if it does not loosen it's fascist iron grip on it's own people. And nobody wants negative political influence which is the direction that China appears to have taken.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Asian2014 sooo.... China is 70 years in the past???? How is that good?

Yeah, the right wingers in Peking. When can we be seeing them off? (Looks hopefully)
