Japanese officialdom, as the destruction of millions of incriminating documents during the weeks between the Emperor's announcement of surrender in 1945 and the arrival of US troops attests, is no slouch when it comes to disappearing inconvenient facts and creating "alternative histories". That's a good question. Inada spent most of summer 2016 dissembling about the security situation in South Sudan, claiming it was stable. And the the SDF suddenly pulled out. There were rumours earlier this year that there'd been some funny business with these logs. I wonder what prompted it?

Lets face it, similar denials, coverups and destruction of possible evidence seem to happen often with ruling Gov. ( Moritomo Gakuen, Kake Scandal, ... )

The data collected by the GSDF were collected by individuals on a privately funded sightseeing tour to S.Sudan hence the need to disclose the log.

that land has not even been questioned. Likewise here everybody is focusing on Inada who eventually will go while ignoring the bureaucrats who will remain and make decisions that will be detrimental to the country or citizens.

The overriding concern is whether Defense Minister Tomomi Inada, the SDF's Joint Staff office, Tetsuro Kuroe, senior civil servants including Okabe and others yet to be determined conspired then colluded to conceal important, relevant facts and information ultimately amounting to an act of criminal intent.  

Resignations and sackings are of little consequence, if actions stretch beyond competence or political accountability.

Proceedings require an independent public inquiry, worryingly the Inspector General's Office of Legal Compliance is under the direct control of the defence minister which does not inspire confidence of autonomy.  

@simon, LCP members took legal classes well but they did not study intro to CS or IT.

Blaming Article 9 for anything but prolonged peace and relative stability is wrong, since it can not be blamed for anything else. Though amending 9th Article by Abe and his sudden nationalistic rise to extending power can be considered the fault of 9th Article, because something good would have been needed to have existed for someone evil to start pulling rugs under the harmonic society.

I blame Article 9 and the Japanese left wing for this mess. Probably, by international standards, nothing untoward occurred, but because of Japan's irrational policies, the Defense Ministry had to walk a fine line of not telling everybody about every little gunshot that occurred, because then the left wingers will demand retreat, and yet if Japan retreats over a few lousy gunshots it would not be understood internationally.

Tomomi thank you for your important decision in February demonstrating your expert ethical reasoning followed by all present. Situational ethics is where the artificial "logs written by individuals" is leveraged to apriori status and then declared honest justification for lying when asked for logs to be disclosed.
