She might not be a goner. Who else in LDP can talk about digital data?

What can she say about it, except that it's data and it's digital? I can't imagine her having much of a clue about anything.

Goodbye forever Tomomi. You can go back to your friends in Zaitokukai and the Japan National Socialist Party now.

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Japanese officialdom, as the destruction of millions of incriminating documents during the weeks between the Emperor's announcement of surrender in 1945 and the arrival of US troops attests, is no slouch when it comes to disappearing inconvenient facts and creating "alternative histories". Fortunately, Japanese democracy has not stood still, and so we may reasonably expect a resignation or two as a result of this cover-up.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

She's a goner, and better she resign before forcing Dear Leader to guano-can her! Embarrassing, but par for the course for this administration!

12 ( +14 / -2 )

This woman is so scandal ridden, yet she is too stupid to realize it, nor is she honorable enough to resign to spare the LDP more ridicule. No honor among theives as I always say and I do hope that she will be the downfall of Abe and the LDP as a whole.

Abe will make her education minister next. Her lack of morals, constant lying and disregard for the law will not prevent her from criticising the state of ethics education in Japan. Of course, her idea of "ethics" is that everyone does what the government tells them without question.

Give her the ministry of finance during the next round.

You think Aso wants to give up his pot of gold for her?

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Congratulations to JSDF members. They have been waiting she goes.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

She appears to have that LDP signature of lies, low ethics and opportunism combined, now what did Japanese SDF do in Sudan so LDP is covering-up the data log at the ministry level ?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Let me guess... when the proof of the fact that she DID know and in fact took an active role in covering it up, her denial will turn into another "Kioku arimasen", and Abe will say, "I would like her to stay on (as she is a staunch defender of me changing the Constitution)".

LDP in a nutshell.

The public don't need to know what the government is up to. They're either too stupid or too troublesome.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Seems to me the new secrecy conspiracy laws should be applied to all politicians & top govt types, THEY are the ones who have been guilty of these types of transgressions for a very long time now!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

what did Japanese SDF do in Sudan so LDP is covering-up the data log at the ministry level ?

That's a good question. Inada spent most of summer 2016 dissembling about the security situation in South Sudan, claiming it was stable. And the the SDF suddenly pulled out. There were rumours earlier this year that there'd been some funny business with these logs. I wonder what prompted it?

Getting fired from her job is not enough for this moron IMO. Her incompetence is so complete and her contempt for the country so vicious, she should be detained and questioned on what exactly she is up to and why she is sabotaging the country like this

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Scrote: " Of course, her idea of "ethics" is that everyone does what the government tells them without question."

And of course, the first and foremost more important ethical decision is that you are willing to die for the emperor under the sakura with the name "Nippon" passing your lips as you do.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Lets face it, similar denials, coverups and destruction of possible evidence seem to happen often with ruling Gov. ( Moritomo Gakuen, Kake Scandal, ... )

and probably countless more that we might never know due they are "protected" by their state secret law, or due the press is scared due they might get kicked out of the pressclub or face punishment due the conspiracy law.

the participants in the Feb. 15 meeting decided there was no need to disclose the matter because the data kept by the GSDF were collected by individuals and do not have to be treated as official documents

Ridiculous

The data collected by the GSDF were collected by individuals on a privately funded sightseeing tour to S.Sudan hence the need to disclose the log.

Why are bureaucrats always let off the hook, as we saw in the moritomo case the dude that auctioned

that land has not even been questioned. Likewise here everybody is focusing on Inada who eventually will go while ignoring the bureaucrats who will remain and make decisions that will be detrimental to the country or citizens.

Give her the ministry of finance during the next round.

Oh boy, Japan is just a joke. Seems to me that Abe's government has reached a level of blundering idiocy similar to the Trump's one. The only thing is that it has become quite difficult for the sane people in this planet to figure out why they are so relentlessly stupid.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Even less transparency now? But the Japan is a democratic regime(hah)!

A lawyer hiding evidence, what ethical law oath did she agree too?

The overriding concern is whether Defense Minister Tomomi Inada, the SDF's Joint Staff office, Tetsuro Kuroe, senior civil servants including Okabe and others yet to be determined conspired then colluded to conceal important, relevant facts and information ultimately amounting to an act of criminal intent.

Resignations and sackings are of little consequence, if actions stretch beyond competence or political accountability.

Proceedings require an independent public inquiry, worryingly the Inspector General's Office of Legal Compliance is under the direct control of the defence minister which does not inspire confidence of autonomy.

@simon, LCP members took legal classes well but they did not study intro to CS or IT.

How many yellow cards add up to a suspension? Unfortunately Abe is the referee so he can make up the rules as he goes along.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Blaming Article 9 for anything but prolonged peace and relative stability is wrong, since it can not be blamed for anything else. Though amending 9th Article by Abe and his sudden nationalistic rise to extending power can be considered the fault of 9th Article, because something good would have been needed to have existed for someone evil to start pulling rugs under the harmonic society.

Inada is a lawyer. She knows how to deal with evidence.

Tomomi Inada makes Japan look WEAK....

Nippon Kaigi Platinim Card Member ? inc. out of jail unlimited card.

I think she is hot. I wonder if she is "Maguro."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not as hot as the water she should be in right now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There is no truth...

That's a good question. Inada spent most of summer 2016 dissembling about the security situation in South Sudan, claiming it was stable. And the the SDF suddenly pulled out. There were rumours earlier this year that there'd been some funny business with these logs. I wonder what prompted it?

I blame Article 9 and the Japanese left wing for this mess. Probably, by international standards, nothing untoward occurred, but because of Japan's irrational policies, the Defense Ministry had to walk a fine line of not telling everybody about every little gunshot that occurred, because then the left wingers will demand retreat, and yet if Japan retreats over a few lousy gunshots it would not be understood internationally.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Tomomi thank you for your important decision in February demonstrating your expert ethical reasoning followed by all present. Situational ethics is where the artificial "logs written by individuals" is leveraged to apriori status and then declared honest justification for lying when asked for logs to be disclosed.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

She might not be a goner. Who else in LDP can talk about digital data? It is not easy to decipher even simple sentences nowadays.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

But she is kawaii...

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Inada is prime Prime Minister material. It's just a matter of time before she becomes Japan's first female leader since the 1770's.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

So; despite the guys that had to go there for YEARS did NOTHING wrong, people are STILL looking for something to COMPLAIN about.
