Great reason. for the Japanese public to get both of them out of office and make sure neither is leading.
Not that the others are much better in the LDP.

Since 1955 the LDP have been in power for all but 3 years. Don't expect this to change anytime soon. In the countryside, they vote for their feudal masters, old established LDP families. Enough to guarantee the election win.
