He raped a woman that he was dating in her house?
I'll give you the benefit of doubt, BUT I do hope you aren't implying because he was dating her and it was at her own property then he's entitled to have sex with her. Just cause someone is dating someone, doesn't mean they must be having sex, it still needs to be consensual, the same as non consensual sex in marriage can be classed as rape (Spousal rape)

You must be joking. Why would he face jail time?
He's Japanese, male, and a politician in Japan. Nothing will come of this. Laws don't apply to them.

Don't get me wrong, I think the LDP are animals but:
As he is not found to be guilty yet, I don't see why anything more than a suspension is warranted while the outcome is still pending. If found guilty, of course he should lose his job and serve out the sentence. But the cart is ahead of the donkey here. Trial by media and public perception seems to be the latest trend and that is VERY concerning.
That said, I do agree that these types of criminals get away with it too easily, but that's a different subject. Democratic justice still needs to be served, that includes a fair trial absent of corruption (even in the case of those we hate). If found guilty, drop the hammer.
Taking photos of a naked woman/man is not an offense unless it was without consent. This sentence is either not correct or incomplete.

Law maker be entitled they be.

The J-media report the scandal using the cliched euphemism 女性問題 (literally, "woman problem"). Ironic, when it's really a man problem.

Now you understand why they call them, lawmakers. The laws do not apply to those who make them.

LDP = be bloody quiet for 2 years, stay out of the limelight, and your job and pension and golf/onsen pass is back. Don’t rock the boat!

"Destroyed now he is." Yoga speak?

Diet members cannot be arrested without the approval of the Diet. Now that he has resigned the police should be able to arrest him. Whether they will actually do anything remains to be seen.

Sadly Japan never prosecute rape if the guy have connections. My friend was raped and the police did nothing except for getting further threatened and receiving additional physical violence.
Justice system is a joke in Japan

Well naturally. The LDP and their lackeys will be on damage limitation mode to protect themselves. Friendly judges and prosecutors won't see it as being in the public interest to make the ruling party look bad by subjecting its members to the same kind of treatment other suspects get.

Although this story does fit a very convenient narrative.

This.
Two drunk people getting their wires crossed? Wouldn’t be the first time it ever happened. Rape? A monster? A tiny moment for pause for anyone who was ever once clueless about the other sex. Misadventures gone very very wrong and in a very very public way.
Doesnt matter. Destroyed now he is. Life over. Is it really that black and white though?Just put the pitchforks down for a moment before the full details are revealed. More difficult conversations must be had.

I follow the principle that anyone is innocent until proven otherwise. So allegations does not mean he is guilty. HOWEVER a legal investigation and possibly a prosecution should be already initiated, why it isn't done? Rape allegations are very serious, so just resigning would give him a free pass?
Abe itself was involved in several scandals. He got away because Japan is not a rule of law country with the same justice applied to everyone.
Dukeleto
So why is he not sitting in detention awaiting the out come of the charges or court case. Why is he not a risk in tampering with evidence such as the photos he allegedly took with his mobile phone.
Double standards Japan!
Do the hustle
I’ve akways said Japan was run by perverts and criminals. It would seem my opinion is warranted.

He raped a woman that he was dating in her house?

Riddle me this though. What would a real democratic government do in this exact situation?
jcapan
Here's hoping he sees jail time.
