Guy needs to step down, he's way past his expiry date.

Why doesn’t Abe hold a press conference on his health and furtive comings and goings to hospital?

Didn’t he choose public life ?

Why is there such a bias on ‘speculation’ in Japanese news?

This isn’t North Korea, is it?

@ R. T.

It's not about whether politicians go to hospitals or not. It's about the possible consequences that may arise.

It's about whether politicians are capable of doing the best job they're elected to do because they're not distracted by health concerns or fatigue/burnout which could lead to some really bad decisions.

If Abe steps aside at a time like this it could cause a power struggle among the coalition gvt' (even with Aso stepping in to the role). Again, this could distract from their jobs when they're supposed to be fixing the worst economic, political (i.e. US and China and Japan caught in the middle etc.) and health crisis in modern times.

IMO if Abe does retire then good riddance. Hopefully that moron Aso will then burnout quickly too and somone (anyone!) with common sense can step in to the role of P.M..

Wishful thinking I know ...

hope his condition gets better. wish him well.

Hopes he quickly recover if he really if effected by his illness. I will pray for him. He tried his best for this nation. But 2020 is just not a good year. And that is a understatement.

Abe drinks Tiger Blood, he will live to 150

Have you seen Charlie Sheen's Tiger Blood Energy Drink ad? :D

Abe's health is probably good enough for him to function as PM. But he needs to step down, he's served long enough.

Proud legacy as longest sitting PM.

Laurels will be dust by now.

nausea, headache or vomiting.

Great qualifications to be PM.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I suffer from the same chronic illness that he does. When it acts up, it is no laughing matter.

Shinzo suffers from being someone with a weak constitution that buckles under the stress of being a failure as PM.

Proud legacy as longest sitting PM.

Laurels will be dust by now.

It says more about the pathetic voting turnout and the demographic of active voters in Japan.

That was as true in 2006 as it is today.

Well, we know this, he’s not getting any younger.

to wait a bit instead of attacking such a sick person?

Confused. You say we shouldn’t attack him because we don’t know if he is sick, then you say he is such a sick person even though you say we don’t know?

It's about whether politicians are capable of doing the best job they're elected to do because they're not distracted by health concerns or fatigue/burnout which could lead to some really bad decisions.

Here in J-land, decisions are made by bureaucrats, politicians are too lazy to think. Abenomask is not Abe's decision though it bears his name, it is the idea of a bureaucrat and as I say politicians don't think so it went through. Talking of bad decisions there are thousands of them, the far outweigh the good decisions.

These guys don't understand the gravity of the situation as they live in their own special world and since they

don't think things are bad, if they did they would have convened a special session of the diet to justify the large salary and pecks that taxpayers are paying them for. where are they ? They are on vacation.

Mickelicious: "Proud legacy as longest sitting PM."

After his stint as the shortest. Besides, the length of time means nothing giving that he's accomplished nothing except provide corporations with tax cuts and watch them laugh as he asked them to extend profits to the pay of employees.

Why do you keep on running this kind of story? Once in a while... okay, but every day?

Several news outlets are running this one, not just Japan Today.

If he is as sick as you keep saying, wouldn’t it be polite to wait a bit instead of attacking such a sick person?

Who's attacking him? The article is just describing the condition. There isn't a single criticism of him in it.

Complications may include an increased risk of colon cancer, clots....

A clot may be to blame. I prescribe a change of Diet.

Aside from politics, I wish him a return to health.
