Wow, this article sure does read like a manual on the "Old-Codgers Club of How To Avoid Regrettable Acts, And If Caught How To Not Be Misunderstood".

"However, Aso said he does not plan to investigate the matter or reprimand Fukuda"

Of course, he won't, being the old sukebe he is himself, and how he treats women and people he feels are beneath him in general. But he sure did scorn him, asking him to "act with tension!" It's quite the MeToo moment Aso is having.

"I told him to act with a sense of tension"

What does that even mean? Or he gives him personal advice on how to better hide it?

details such as the dates when the alleged sexual harassment occurred, and the names of the reporters involved, are not specified

Soooo it depends on the day and the reporter before he can categorically deny sexu-Hara? He has harassed so many reporters that he can’t remember which day he harassed which reporter?

And what is Aso’s response? NOTHING, of course. Just like everything else he does: bad news, meet the carpet. What an asso.

Maybe the bureaucrats ARE out to destabilize the government?

Fukuda said he met many people in a private capacity and it was not possible to verify every interaction but that he would be careful not to "be misunderstood" from now on, Aso said.

How can "Can I feel your breasts?" be "misunderstood" Mr. Aso?

Wow the vice minister of finance making sexual advances to female reporters and he isn't getting reprimanded for it. Isn't there some sort of decorum you need to follow when you are a member of the government. It's just disgusting

Fukuda said he met many people in a private capacity and it was not possible to verify every interaction

So does he ask " can i touch your breasts" most of those he meets since he can,t remember or verify?

Still it seems that under Aso,s watch anything goes at Finance Ministry these days...its wild west out in them MoF corridors.

Sad however indicative of how Japanese females are still treated by men, especially men of power in Japanese society. Ancient and modern Japanese customs have yet to completely merg/evolve .

The Finance Ministry is a cess pit.

"I admonished him that given the situation the ministry is in now, he should not be complacent,"

Otherwise it's OK to sexually harass?
