Yakushiji said he believes Kishida must have a strong sense of distrust of South Korea based on the Moon government unilaterally nullifying a landmark deal to settle the issue of Koreans forced to work at Japan's wartime military brothels "finally and irreversibly.”

Completely biased partisan journalism. The experts quoted are little more than kisha club mouthpieces for the LDP regime. No mention of Korea’s legitimate grievances over Japan’s continual backsliding and denialism.

When has Japan ever "backslided" on anything they have agreed to with South Korea?

South Korea "backslided" opn the 2015 "Permanent and Irreversible" Comfort Women Agreement. SK refused to comply with the Aribitration Clause in the 1965 Treaty, and allowed SK Courts to try and rule without first establishing jurisdiction. SK unilaterally occupied the Liancoiurt Rocks and have refused to settle the dispute at the ICJ three times. It seems to me your view if far more biased than tje journalists you complain about.

It is very good and refreshing news to hear about agreements, cooperation, this contributes to positive feelings and peaceful attitudes that are so much needed to calm down the world.

What a contrast Japan and Germany’s respective stances regarding compensation for the suffering and distress each caused. Japan arrogant, legalistic, and essentially devoid of compassion. Germany’s, high minded, generous in the extreme, and not reluctant to renegotiate. None of this mealy mouthed, statute of limitations has passed so we’re in the clear crapola.

Still this kind of soapy compliments when Polish government slams German rejection of Warsaw’s WWII reparations claim

That Yoon hot mic moment wasn't that big a deal over here.

Too many other important things going on in the world.

You despair for these clowns. They simply can’t help themselves. It’s one thing to try and delude others with their self serving excuses designed to deflect attention away from their own complicity in most of these unresolved issues. But even worse, they’ve managed to convince themselves that the other side is the intransigent party.

When the sun expands and only living things left on earth are microbes, the Japanese and Korean microbes will still be bickering.

WAR connection is pathetic!

Good, about time if it does. Neither country benefits from or is best served by the petty and vicious populism espoused by the Moon administration.

South Korean politicians AND South Korean justice do not care about the historical truths. Who cares about the truths and trying to amend the relationship are the ones who are fighting NOW against this disgusting fraud NGO called Chong Dae Hyup every Wednesday still in front of the Japanese embassy

Yes, it "May". Or it may not.

But now that South Korea has a leader who can see straight and recognizes the importance of SK-JPN relations to the security of his country, and that good relations between the two is critical for the United States, hopefully Mr Yoon can undo the massive damage created by his predecessor Moon.

I forsee a lot of scandals in his future. He has already been caught calling Americans a derogatory name.

“It would be so humiliating for Biden if these idiots don’t pass it in Congress,” Yoon was overheard telling a group of aides as they left the event. Video of the exchange quickly went viral in South Korea, where Yoon took office in May as a political rookie. He has never held elected office before and lacks prior experience in foreign policy

South Korean president overheard speaking the truth about U.S. Congress

There. I fixed it for you.

He has already been caught calling Americans a derogatory name

He didn't call "Americans" a derogatory name. Because the current congress is as UN-American as they come.

Since they are not for the American people, they cannot be called "American". Therefore the South Korean people didn't insult Americans. He merely labelled the current US Congress by their correct term.

I really wish anti-Japanese, anti-Korean and pro-ccp idiots would stop picking on South Korean President Yoon. He seems to be the only South Korean president in recent times who is actually making an effort to mend bilateral ties with Japan.

This new President of South Korea appears to be another Shinzo Abe/trump. I forsee a lot of scandals in his future. He has already been caught calling Americans a derogatory name.
