Secured support - just verbal promises. But nothing has happened yet.

Haven't we always pressured North Korea to abandon their nuclear program? Why is it new that we have to pressure North Korea on this and that when it surely has not worked before! The only thing we'll have by cutting their "life-line" is an all out suicide-attack which will result in the loss of countless of innocent lives.

For North Korea, it's either starve to death, or die with honour in an all out suicide attack on Japan, USA, NATO etc. I doubt North Korea would ever attack their "brother" in South.

Abe's; sanction, sanction, sanction-hysteria, is like he doesn't want a reunified Korean Peninsula! It is like he want North Korea to fall apart and then have a part of North Korea for himself. This is not how things work in the 21st century. I believe we've developed more peaceful negotiation methods than we have of ways to embargo North Korea!

Given that DPRK won't stop making nukes, wouldn't it be better not to provoke them?

The US and allies invaded Iraq because of WMDs that didn't exist. North Korea has been testing, refining and boasting about their WMDs and actually making threats of nuclear annihilation. Talk about the world leaving things till the last minute.

The more dictatorial they are, the more insulated they tend to be from reality. Does the North Korean dictator think that using force against South Korea, Japan, or the US will end well for him? If so, he is very much deluded.

Abe should stay away from both USA and N Korea. Let them verbally abuse each other. Stay away from S Korea, too. S. Korea hates Japan.

I believe we've developed more peaceful negotiation methods than we have of ways to embargo North Korea!

Talk about the world leaving things till the last minute.

North Korea has been pressured with sanctions and humanitarian aid for years to get them to abandon their nuclear program. Haven't worked and still won't work.

Obama did nothing to stop North Korea's nuclear and missile development, except weak protests. Look how far they've progressed under Obama's Presidency.

We have now have a President who has the political will and fortitude to stand up to threats and do something.

I doubt North Korea would ever attack their "brother" in South.

They did it back in 1950 with the backing of the then-Soviet Union and China.

So long as U.S. military presence is on the Korean Peninsula North Korea won't attack their South "brother".

But Kim (along with China and Russia) wants the U.S. withdrawal as conditions for a "peace treaty" to end the armistice. Once the U.S. leaves, North Korea, now armed with nuclear and missile capabilities North Korea can either invade or force South Korea to surrender.

Does the North Korean dictator think that using force against South Korea, Japan, or the US will end well for him? If so, he is very much deluded.

The North Korean dictator is not deluded; he knows what he is doing.

With ever-improving nuclear and missile capabilities, he now has the leverage to frighten and force the UN, Japan and U.S. into negotiating a "peace treaty" on DKRK terms that will demand removal of U.S. military from the Peninsula, surrender of South Korea to a reunified Korea under DPRK regime. That will be the DPRK's "Final Victory" and that has been the DPRK goals from day one.

Hopefully Trump and Abe, with UN backing won't allow that to happen.

Abe's; sanction, sanction, sanction-hysteria, is like he doesn't want a reunified Korean Peninsula!

The UN, Japan, U.S. AND SOUTH KOREA doesn't wants a reunified Korean Peninsula under DPRK regime!

Is a reunified Korea under DPRK regime is what the leftist pacifists appeasers want? Are you all willing to sacrifice South Korea's sovereignty and democracy in exchange for Kim's empty "promises" to stop nuclear threats and missile launches? Do you all think a reunified Korea under DPRK regime will ensure "peace" in the Asian region?

If the leftist-pacifist-appeasers think a reunified Korea under DPRK regime is the solution, I think they are the ones who are misguided and deluded.

I agree, Abe's moves to drum up support for unilateral action against NK has been incredibly successful and definitely credit to where it's due.

As usual, the obstacles to peace are Russia and China who seem intent on allowing NK to develop intercontinental nuke capabilities. Therefore their objectives appear to be that a few cities in America are nuked and wiped out
