That minister need to learn not to make a joke about death sentence in jurisdiction where hostage justice (人質司法) isn't that rare, where people being held until they confess whatever the crime is.

Seems almost deliberate. I guess Kishida is too soft for the ultra-right wing elements of the junta.

He will be the economic recovery Minister next year, or the Minister of Foreign Relations. These people never go away they are simply regurgitated in a new role. Having any knowledge about the ministerial job, responsibility not a Job requirement for these people.

"Without the trust of the public, it is impossible to run the government," Yamaguchi added.

Quite the contrary, the LDP has shown it can run the government and win elections without the trust of the people nor returning any tangible benefits to them at all.

Really???? Since when????

Yup!

THIS!!!

"I have to say Kishida does not have the qualifications to be prime minister," Koike said.

I'd say that sentence applies to pretty much ANYONE in the LDP

The whole system should be reformed and penalties for fraud and graft should be mandatory prison terms.

Japan has to go through bold reform and Kishida has to think bold and be bold

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Japanese politicians and the people it seems as well on think people like Abe, and a couple of others are "leaders". They had charisma and the ability to BS the people into thinking everything they say is fact, even when it's not.

We are headed back to the revolving door PM's here. Next up....?

"...but leadership questioned."

YES! What kind of a 'leader' would have either the effrontery or incompetence to appoint an 'honest' voice to a position of responsibility in a government? Absolutely intolerable and shows a true lack of understanding of the necessities of the theatrical spectacle of 'government' that requires actors who can speak the greatest absurdities with absolute sincerity and convincibility and NEVER, NEVER, EVER tell the truth about ANYTHING. This shows a definite lack of character judgement in Mr. Kishida...

This PM and so many lifer politicians need to be evicted from their posts and fresh people put in.

Regarding the law in this country, it needs to be overhauled as well. What that politician said was actually true, sadly. The police in fact do make people confess to crimes without a lawyer present and will grill them to they break. So why was he sacked for stating the truth?

At least one man is gloating over Kishida’s plunging approval ratings: Kono Taro, the man who’s craving to be Prime Minister.

Suspicious. Aso was never sacked for his gaffes.

Suspicious. Aso was never sacked for his gaffes.

Are you of the opinion there is some all-seeing puppet master to ensure that life is fair and everyone is treated the same?

Now there is a vacant position might be time for Kishidas son to step up and be the right person for the right job.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Disgusting LDP!

Ministers are informed if they do not resign they will be fired.

What gets me is Kishida can’t see the link between the cost of living going up and continual money printing and the continuation of abenomics. If he keeps devaluing the yen everything gets more expensive-hello?!!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It doesn’t matter. The people keep voting for the same party for nearly 70 years, and somehow they expect something different, so they may change the label, but the content is still the same.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Kishida's wimpy image strangely mirrors that of Brexit Sunak (of "another fine mess" repute).
