Tsukiji wholesalers and local administration experts argue the governor should not make the market relocation a political issue, and that the plan was rushed and lacked detail.

Tsukiji wholesalers and local administration experts? Ok. The latter I get. Paid lackeys of the LDP. But what the hell is a local administration expert? How does one go about becoming a local administration expert? Or are these just paid LDP propaganda tools?

I have no choice but to describe the conclusion as 'Election First,' rather than 'Tomin First,'" said the former governor of Tottori Prefecture

Of course you don't. You're a tool of the LDP. An oyaji salary botchan.

Other parties had intensified their attack against Tomin First no Kai, with members of the Liberal Democratic Party, which holds the largest number of seats in the assembly, calling her an "indecisive governor."

Of course. The LDP is terrified of her.

In an apparent move to dodge questions from reporters about details of the plan, Koike limited her press conference to half an hour citing her official duties, and answered questions from only three reporters.

Oh give me a break. What's she supposed to do? Sit there and answer their questions all day? She answered more than Ishihara ever did. This is Ishihara's fault. What they are doing to this woman is proof that Japan under the LDP is no different from the 1 party dicatorships we see around the world. Its a sham. Utterly disgusting.

I said it before, and I'll say it again this is a Koike witchhunt.

If the headline is true she's getting as bad as the old boys...

It is obviously a hollow announcement meant to help her in the election.

It is hollow because there is only a concept offered.

And, the concept has a lot of problems, e.g, how will newly developed Tsukiji markets generate enough revenue to pay the JPY300B in debt, plus the cost of refurbishing the place? I don't think the current businesses could pay that now before adding the refurbishing costs.

They would need to turn the place into a sushi theme park that generates in the range of a $1M a day in sales.

This is sad but funny. Just imagine if the Tokyo govt were operating Amazon's distribution center. Should tax payers be on the hook for that? Why fish and flowers?

Either direction she went she would be accused of using it for political purposes. She could have waited until after the election and used all the BS of Ishihara and the other LDP members involved "for political reasons" but she didnt. Those arse holes made it into a political problem by not doing their jobs in the first place.

Everyone who wants to make some cash off this cow would have preferred the move to have already taken place and Koike be a "good girl" and mind her own business and leave this to the "boys" to deal with.

This is sad but funny. Just imagine if the Tokyo govt were operating Amazon's distribution center. Should tax payers be on the hook for that? Why fish and flowers?

One needs to understand a little bit about how businesses and government collaborate here to know that this was in part a public works project as well as private enterprise.
