Renho has pledged to work for higher salaries for younger generations who think they cannot afford to start a family

If the 'pledge' is followed by an 'urge' to Keidanren like with decades of politicians it will be useless as usual.

And the focus on having children also is forced and is excluding large swaths of the population also suffering from low wages and depression era life strategies because of Japan INC cash hoarding and BOJ policies

The two female candidates focusing exclusively on children and family also seems artificial and forced.

Give Dr. Nakamats the 96 year old uber-ojiisan an outsider shot!

As clear as mud.

@GuruMick

I Agree. Some news would have helped clarify things.

Confusing article, but obviously they are not Prime Minister material.

last night our neighbours had a BBQ, undercover, clouds were gathering, the food was exceptional.

Then an elderly relative mentioned that on past trip to Tokyo, complementing Yuriko Koike, politically, as "one of us".

Most, if not all, are of one description or another farmers, dawn to dusk.

Perplexed, my Father and Mother, noticed I was about to stick both feet in my mouth attempted to interject.

To late

I chirped, quipped, whilst walking the dogs, I saw the spitting image of Yuriko Koike on a tractor rice harvesting.

Silence, embarrassment, I attempted to recover, I suggested it could have resembled Renho, then blaming on a eyesight malfunction.

That silence felt like a lifetime.

Proof enough "hearts and minds" are not for change regardless of gender.

Unless the youth, the 18 to 30 wake up and vote for change.

As environment minister, she promoted the "Cool Biz" campaign to encourage workers to ditch their jackets and ties during the summer to cut down on carbon emissions from air conditioning.

.

And what a failure that is!

Look around and see how many are wearing suits and ties.

Imagine something that would raise money and aid cleaner air?

How about a Tokyo ordinance prohibiting idling cars backed up with fines, like parking violations?

Still what can be expected from an oil trader’s daughter…

Doubtful. Ex-governor snd patriot Shintaro Ishihara also received massive media attention resulting in zero results or "ramifications" say for being hated by unwelcome (to him and right wingers) non-Japanese residents.

If I had to goose, I'd go with Renho. She has children. At least she practiced what she preaches (kind of). She did chose divorce to prioritise work though.

Who chose the colors, design on the flag and the entire set? Atrocious.

But really.

'What is a woman?'

Koike’s natural habitat whilst in her formative years was most likely a high end coffee shop near JR Ashiya station.

There are some green spaces in Ashiya behind closed walls but not any rice fields.

Full marks for being imaginative though.

"Why must we aim for the world's No. 1? What's wrong with being the world's No. 2?" Renho, then not yet a minister, asked.

Better response would have been, "Instead of always trying to be No. 1, strive to be the only 1"

It is nice to see that the opposition parties are finally starting to become a viable alternative.

Somehow I’ve always kind of liked Renho. An individual aspect to her. Like strong women to be leaders.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Any candidate who will kill Koike's plan to cut down trees and fill up Jingu's open spaces with shopping centers is a better alternative.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

They could not have found a photo that did not obscure Renho's face?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Based on demographics I guess Koike wins. There aren’t that many young people and old people want a quiet neighborhood today rather than a prosperous Japan tomorrow.

Koike-san's outstanding achievement. Worth a Nobel Prize at least.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Major TV channels who always under pressure of ad corporation and nationwide newspapers who are also stakeholders of redevelopment project at Tokyo are favorably interpreting about everything of Koike who benefit corporations, negative about everything of Renho.

Besides, cult group "Unification Church" repeating huge amount of slanders or false rumors to discredit Renho at online.

Those are so disadvantageous to Renho.
