Odds of Unification Church dissolution order hinge on if the Church does or does not have damning evidence of collusion with LDP bigwigs which they can leverage to compel the LDP into its usual inaction until the furor blow over

Fixed it for you.

Wish they could do this for the American evangelical church

Arrest them all. Japan has a supposed 99% confession rate.

Stop this witch hunt! The point is Abe Shinzo was murdered. Who cares about what the killer says? When John Lennon was killed by Chapman, did anyone cared about his opinion? No! Because he is the killer. No matter what the reason might be first of all, we have to understand and reinforce killing is not the solution in any sort. Also it’s the highest crime of all so it belongs to criminal law not civil law. If we let this slide, eg. The Japanese government listens to the killer and says “ oh! I see your problem. Thank you for killing Abe Shinzo, we will listen and obey to what you are saying! Good job killing!” This will create more future crimes. General public will think “let’s kill someone to make our points valid!”. Therefore, stop the witch hunting and show us real justice for Abe Shinzo, well respected honourable man who did not deserved to be assassinated in public.

Therefore, stop the witch hunting and show us real justice for Abe Shinzo,

His killer will definitely be tried, convicted and sentenced to prison time. Isn't that real justice?

well respected honourable man who did not deserved to be assassinated in public.

Indeed not. He deserved to be banned from running for public office and thrown in prison for a few years.

Found the moonie.

"" The other was the Myokakuji temple group based in Wakayama Prefecture. Its priests defrauded people who sought help by telling them they were possessed by evil spirits before charging them for exorcisms.""

Well?

So there are three possible outcomes, in order of severity:

(1) No change

(2) Remove status as tax-free religous organization

(3) Mandatory dissolution - (Just ban the name? Requires clarification.)

3 sounds quite difficult, #2 quite possible, #1 most probable.

Simon, well said!

Nothing wrong with Unification Church. It has brought many single people together into happy, married lives. It also promotes world peace. What is wrong with those ideals? Also banning the church I think is just an excuse for LDP to focus away from important issues. Also it is religious persecution-this is not unlike feudal Japan did to Christians in the 15th century in Nagasaki!

If someone persuades me to give them my money, that doesn't give me the right to kill that person. The fact that people are trying to justify this thinking is insane. You just don't kill the pachinko worker because you lost your yearly salary. With that said, I definitely do agree that this is a witch hunt.

Every religious sect asks its followers to make a donation in one way or another. It may be in the form of cash or donation in the form of labor.

The so-called Unification Church is no different in that point. Contribution of an exorbitant amount of money may collapse a family's finance as in the case of the mother of Tetsuya Yamagami, who gunned down the former prime minister.

I wonder how the government would dissolve the Unification Church, saying it's not a religion. Then, it may boil down to a religious controversy between the government and the religious group.

There is nothing wrong in making a donation to any group you belong to provide is not forced and is given freely and according to what you want to give.

Too many members of the UC are pressurised into giving excessively large money.

The UC also made donations to the LDP who also attended their events.
