Decisions concerning food food safety need to be made on the basis of protecting the public's health. Not for political reasons.

A referendum is the most relevant democratic act in a system where sovereignty resides in the people. This is something the people of Taiwan have decided. And as the article says, it can only be annulled with another referendum.
Democracy has spoken. We can only congratulate you on your sovereign decision. Although I may be a little rude in my words.
