Japan has 1.1 quadrillion yen of public debt.
Kishida is not the first economically illiterate PM Japan has seen.
It is not a proper tax rate cut, which is the type of move that might have positive effects.
The way it is structured doesn’t boost anyone’s incentives to work to earn more income. They could just spray the money around like they did before with Komeito’s election bribes. Same impact.

Vice minister's exit deals further blow to Kishida's leadership...
Does it? lol. Really? The Media sez...
Look at the "sources" for this sophomoric Hit Piece: "Pundits say..." "Analysts say..." "...say some pundits."
And to those crowing about Kishida being "below 30%" lol. My question to you is: what's the support level for the Opposition? (At least 10% lower) I'd like to hear how many people can even name the leader of the main opposition policy, or a single thing he's done to deserve support?
Kishida and the LDP/Komeito/Ishin (in Osaka) handily win the next election. The Opposition embarrasses itself for the umpteenth time. It's baked into the electoral system! Sorry to add a dash of reality to your Kyodo Spin...

Well said Derek!

who cares? its not like this country is a democracy. Whoever is the leader of the LDP will remain PM until he gets tired of the job and quits of his own accord. And the LDP machine will keep spinning. SOP here in Japan.

And as always, whenever there is an inconvenient incident at home, he'll traipse off to a foreign destination to try and heal his image as a "leader." The last time was Philippines and Malaysia, this time will be APEC.

caution, I think that the tax offense could be a fabricated pretext to hide the real dismissal reason from Kishida.
Japanese are experts in fabricated cases. That sounds fishy this tax offense, is too Big to be believed.

And the penalty will be a slap on the wrist?
A fine?
A gaol?
None of the above?
Won’t Kanda at least get a trip down the koban for his forgetfulness?
Derek Grebe
None of this matters.
Kishida will be well taken care of for the rest of his days, and whichever nonentity takes over from him will be elected in a landslide.
This is a one-party state without the purges.

indeed, Kenji Kanda does not believe on Japan economy, he does not want to be responsible for this killing inflation and debt-ticking bomb .

I wonder why the falling ratings? Japanese folks must be tired of a lagging economy and being broke.
Kishida seemed to be the right guy for Japan for Japan's foreign diplomacy. He has done some notable work for Japan's National security and the entire region.

he "has not shown himself to be a leader."
Isn't he supposed to represent us? In order to represent, surely he has to listen?
Or perhaps he is listening - not us, but to whoever is pulling his strings.

Yes, that's right.
In October 2023, his approval rating is at 26.3%
