Considering the amount of "reconstruction" accomplished since 3/11, I would have fired him (all of them actually) a long time ago. These statements are simply evidence that they have become so callously confident that nobody will do anything to stop them, or make them actually do the jobs they were hired for.
nigelboy
It's a true statement but as a government official, he should of kept his opinions to himself.
As the March 7, 2013 meeting with these "groups" indicate, they simply do not let up. They are so desparate to attach the detected thryoid cancers and thryoid abnormalities to the Fukushima Daiichi incident that they don't even let the government officials state their finding and the basis of these findings without yelling across the floor room.

Guy needs to be canned. Yesterday.
What does this guy have to do with Abe? Did he personally appoint him or something?
Clinton Meskanen
read the #happy tweets for the extent of the nonsense
Nelson Surjon
Thank you Mizuno san. People like you can only help in shortening Abe's "reign" in power.

This is the lazy sort of ending that drives me nuts..."Tens of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes by the spreading radiation, with some expected never to be able to return".
HOW MANY "tens of thousands" and HOW MANY is "some"? This weak ending makes it sound like there is a lonely handful of folks in exile instead of the what I believe is SOME NUMBER of tens of thousands who are having to deal with never going back.
bajhista65
I have seen bloodless revolution in the Philippines and heard one in Korea to solved a problem and complaints of citizens deeply affected. Fukushima and Miyagi constituents affected by the radiation should now move and unite for Tepco and the JGov to act ASAP on their grievances solutions. Talks and plain media reports won't be able to solve their radiation , compensation, resettlement, relocation, bad politicians etc problems.

And these are the people they put in charge of helping victims of a nuclear disaster. Conservative nuclear power supporters. As usual Japan leaves the Fox guarding the chicken coop. Rather like having a minister of woman's affairs who's a man.....oh, wait...
omicron
This will continue to happen if many officials are NOT USED TO complaints. That's the problem when generally people don't complain about bad things happening, so when you complain, they thlnk you are whining and you're the one who is bad. People should start complaining so things will change for the better.

This guy is not an Abe aid, he is a Japanese government worker and a former vice mayor of some city, I forgot the name. He's tweeted a number of idiotic tweets. He is an idiot and either will be or already has been removed from his position
.
gogogo
This guy thinks it is about him, people still have not gotten money, still living in temp housing, the entire "team" needs to be fired.

Mizuno should be the subject of that article, "Ever wondered what Japanese prison food tastes like?"
Get Real
we'll do sweet FA

You mean they want to be absolutely certain that they and their families are safe? Bloody lunatics....
taj
Has it been confirmed that it was him? (Not someone who guessed his password and wanted to stir trouble?) Has he admitted it or is he providing an alibi or something else to say it wasn't him?
Cause if it was him, he needs to resign.
Benefit of the doubt though, as that is almost too stupid to believe.

'gaff' = accidentally speaking the truth.
Some groups are making some crazy demands regarding clean up. Like, all soil removed to a depth of 2m, and all buildings torn down and rebuilt.
wildwest
I can see how he would say something like this after a hard day in the office listening to the constant demands from those pesky homeless displaced irradiated grieving jobless disillusion by government suffering PTSD.
don-in-japan
@smithinjapan, spot on. There's a surprising information gap between politicians and awareness of the internet age - social media... especially like twitter. Deleting it doesn't matter - if you said it, it's out there. And unfortunately you're right too with regards to the shuffle that will occur to hide the guy, rather than any true repercussions. As long as he gives an apology, and bows at the correct angle - all's well... regardless of sincerity.
Pukey2
There are politicians who are stupid and selfish. And there are politicians who are stupid enough to brag about their stupidity and selfishness.

It really hurts the image of current government, but is Abe takes strong measures it will be a big plus for him.
Wakarimasen
Twitter really is a mixed blessing. Sure it may have lots of good and fun aspects, but it also allows morons to post "tirades" and is a refuge for the coward and bully too.
hkitagawa
I wonder if things like that happens in US
samwatters
I think we found our next ambassador to the UN.

"lack of intelligence" is right! Mizuno was just applying it to the wrong people. Why on earth would you Twitter something like this when, unless you lack intelligence, you KNOW it's going to be picked up?? As for 'action being taken', yeah... he'll lose half of one month's salary and be transferred to some other job where he doesn't have to do anything besides berate the locals.

I thought freedom of expression right is also available in Jeapanes constitution prepared by Yankii's
papigiulio
People at his level should know better, seriously. And I agree with badsey, let him work at the plant.
BurakuminDes
Mizuno should be immediately fired and have all his retirement benefits stripped. This dropkick is there simply to serve the public, obviously he is unable to do that. Some of these public servants seem to have delusions that they are special or important.
squeeks
facepalm. I don't normally do the whole caps locks yelling, but IT'S YOUR JOB TO CLEAN UP RADIATION AND PROTECT PEOPLE FROM RADIATION POISONING, "BAKAI"! I hope he spends some time reading this. I don't want to make this a pointless comment.
MarkX
We can now see the true feelings of the Abe Gov't regarding nuclear energy and their hate for those who want to try and stop them.
sillygirl
Men like this show how they were educated. Entitled twits. Shame, really.
badsey3
Send him to work at/in the nuclear plant and live in the hot zone. = That way he will have a better understanding.
mikihouse
Abe is in trouble with his aides spouting nonsense and making foolish remarks...This country will not make it to the next century
