 Japan and the other G7 countries aim to amplify their consensus on vital issues like the war in Ukraine, China's growing assertiveness, debt and development issues and climate change.

Other G-7 countries and possibly Japan, as Japan in it's current political landscape, is far from capable of doing anything concrete, other than throw money at any problem, and not just "any" money, the future Japanese children's money.

Japan can't support militarily, it offers token gesture "medical" aid ideas, takes one or two refugees, and if you want to talk about debt......lol! Climate change? All they do is pay lip service at best.

The current makeup of the G-7 is a joke!

I would like to hear more about this theory. What exactly is it, that gives Japan this special role?

As the only Asian G7 member, Japan has a special role to play in that regard, said Yuichi Hosoya, a professor of international politics at Tokyo's Keio University.

has said another aim is to highlight the importance of the Global South developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. As the only Asian G7 member, Japan has a special role to play in that regard\

Global south is already occupied by China, G7 countries already busy with domestic issue now.

@sakurasuki

Every country has issues to deal with. You just don't hear about the ones in the autocracy brigade. China's growth is slowing, its unemployment rising, and they have no way to fix their enormous real estate problems.
