I wished the G7 would for once move away from confrontational talk to a more adult and meaningful talk... like why there’s more poverty and suffering even within their own “ edens” and what they’ll do about it.

South Korea is wealthy than Italy or miserable England, have they read the memo,China would blitzkrieg Taiwan in a war, according to the US

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

The US has a defense budget larger than all those countries combined, has some 600 plus military bases scattered around the world and yet bizarrely insists that other countries are a "threat"...

I - and the civilized world - wish fascist Russia would stop invading sovereign Ukraine and committing war crimes and genocide. And that totalitarian, sick China would stop bullying and threatening free Taiwan.

The G7 is right in condemning these two nations led by SCUM.

This is politically misrepresented, French President Emmanuel Macron has spent week undermining any form of unity.

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna must feel diplomatically embarrassed!

Out of step, owing to Emmanuel Macron infuriating self-importance

Saying your unified the easy part, chaos and protests in the streets, wide-spread labor strife, uncontrolled inflation, asset prices crumbling, lack of energy and food, banking risks, lack of credit, rising rates, general economic malaise, etc., so hardly an approval ratings bonanza for these G-7 clowns and their bosses!

Ukraine proxy war's winding down folks, now Taiwan that's an open question!

As an attentive news reader I ask myself what is meant with ‘Group of Seven wealthy democracies’. You can’t conclude from seven (+1 / EU) photograph pictured wealthy diplomats to seven wealthy countries they represent. The era of wealth has long gone with corona, Ukraine war and hyper inflation, only to name a few obvious indicators.

Sven,China GDP eclipse probably double the GDP of the six other beside the US

If you want to be taken seriously, seen with integrity etc, etc. You have to be consistence with your massages, communicates etc, etc. IE, regardless of which country try/does/attemps, etc, etc, anything that contravene UN charter, etc, . You have to make the same kind of statement, communicate. Starting with America.

Commitment to a US led world order. No thanks. Had enough of that one. New world order please, and make it snappy. Lets make bitcoin the global reserve currency to bring an end to the weaponization of USD

I truly hope the G7 will not destroy themselves by applying sanctions to China. The prospects of applying sanctions involves billions of dollars in world trade and trillions depending how long they last. I can assure there have been thousands of scenarios played out. The results all boil down to the same ending: China will suffer major setbacks until the end of the decade. There will be export slowdown and technological backlog. The West will be shredded to pieces.

Chinas Achilles Heel was always energy. They are going to import from Australia again despite trying to damage Australia’s economy. Had Russia been in the G8 today then China could have been put in a straight jacket. Had the US not kowtowed to China and remove all its military, Air Force base in Tainan and nuclear missiles from Taiwan, China would be like Japan, under the grip of the U.S. The US screwed the pooch as Americans say.

China has literally signed a deal with Russia where Russia alone can take care of China’s Energy needs. China also has Iran and I don't include Saudi Arabia or Qatar or UAE. I also don’t include Sino-Soviet projects in Siberia either. I’ve also talked to people in Sino-African relations.

In short, to stop China you’ll have to break up the Sino-Soviet pack. Russia in G8 would have been sufficient. What good is having Japan?

So today even if China is sanctioned, China with Russian and Iran can absorb sanctions and destroy the West entirely. Look at Europe now.

I am certain Europe would be crushed to a pulp economically and UK would be ruined. US may survive (the wealthy) but in a badly weakened state. The middle class and JD Vance blue collar families will be devastated. China and Russia and Iran will emerge stronger than ever.

They have a working economy of 800 million middle class. It can take a big hit. The U.S. portion of their GDP is only 3%. Sanctions would be incredibly suicidal.

China is an incredible country. China says it is ready broker peace talks between Israel and Palestine. They might be able to score another peace deal; this time Israel and Palestine.

I am positive they can get Putin and Zelensky to shake hands. The U.S. just sit back and let China work things out. Give peace a chance.

Here's your 50 cents, Wumao. Comrade Xi would be so proud of you.

All hail the new leader of the entire world, the Middle Kingdom!

It's funny how Taiwan never gets called out for its military bases in the South China Sea. Or Vietnam or the Philippines. Having said that it's time for cooler heads to prevail and the countries should sit down and come to a negotiated settlement. China's claims are clearly excessive.

Because they pale in comparison to the PRC's by a long shot. The solution is for China to back down and acknowledge no EEZ created by reefs.

It's funny how you completely ignore the actions of Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines. If you go back further in time even the French and Japanese occupied some of these islets.

For anyone who wants to delve more deeply into the issue and become informed, I recommend The South China Sea : The Struggle for Power in Asia by Bill Hayton. It was published in 2014 so it's fairly recent.

They could have just done these meetings online and saved taxpayers billions! The common / average hardworking people who make up more than half the population in these so called G7 countries suffer financially and struggle to make ends meet. Yet their Governments waste money on these types of meeting which have no relevance because these meetings won’t stop China or Russia and The US will NEVER go into direct war to save Ukraine and Taiwan. They know that they’ll never win those wars against China and Russia since it will lead to a nuclear war with billions of death. People commenting here saying US should do more directly to fight Russia and China don’t realize that by doing so billions of people will die!

So many words, but basically just that, promises

Not and claimed the whole darn thing as their EEZ. Fortunately the US violates it regularly and proves how much China's claim is worth.

Ukraine no, Taiwan, absolutely it will go to war. You really want to take your chances given the public view of the PRC in the US? Literally nobody will be saying not to sink the first ship and once that is done we are off to the races. You don't have to worry, though, as it will require criminal action on the part of the PRC first so it won't be the US' fault what follows.

And the good old circus of US trained fleas ends its pathetic artistic bazaar, yeyyy !!!..

Top diplomats from the Group of Seven wealthy democracies

BRICS has more GDP that pathetic G7 circus countries.. LOL !!..

Taiwanis China. None of your businesses, G7.

China will not lose its Taiwan province, never..

You don’t need to go back in time; the French still has territories in the South Pacific today.

Macron met with Xi. China and France released a groundbreaking fifty point joint statement.

One of the significant points is about deepening the dialogue and cooperation between the Chinese and French navies in the Pacific Ocean. France has two strategically located overseas territories in this theatre - French Polynesia, and New Caledonia. These islands are located right on the so-called “Third Island Chain.”

For the French, this could be payback of a sort for getting snubbed by the Anglo-Saxon nations over their nuclear submarine deal with Australia. For the Chinese, this presents a greater level of maritime freedom and security, as the Island Chains continue to be ever more porous.

In the joint statement, France reiterated its adherence to the one-China principle. China and France are willing to promote the continuous development of the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual respect for each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and major interests.

Macron returns and the focus is on his statement on Taiwan but the key is France is working with China. The joint statement pointed out that China and France will continue the annual meeting mechanism between the two heads of state while emphasizing the importance of high-level exchanges and strategic dialogues.

China can bring Russia and France together. China says it is ready to broker a peace deal between Israel and Palestine.

If you think plans will be adjusted for Ukraine or Taiwan based on France, you have another thing coming. He was ridiculed in Europe for his stance on Taiwan.

China says it is ready to broker a peace deal between Israel and Palestine.

Would like to see that. China is a destabilizing nation, not one that advances peace.

You really are paid to type up these novels, aren't you?

Nothing is more pathetic than Russia losing to a country not even in the top 20 of military expenditure.

BRICS has more GDP that pathetic G7 circus countries.. LOL !!..

But not the OECD. LOL !!..

China will not lose its Taiwan province, never..

The PRC already lost it in 1949.

That was a long long time ago. A lot has changed since then.

To go back in time to the period of years the author of the book you recommended, I would say China got a major break when the US was busy with Gaddafi and Libya. At the same time of the First Libyan War (March 2011) the US usual suspects were organizing a revolution with colors in Syria. China is truly the crouching tiger hidden dragon 臥虎藏龍 and flew under the U.S. radar.

Returning to 2023, the aim these past years was to isolate the world against China. Instead the entities who call the shots in the US have actively made the world look towards for peace with leaders pleading for China to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

1) Iran and Saudi Arabia

2) Israel and Palestine

3) Ukraine and Russia

4) China and Taiwan.

5) Turkey and Afghanistan

China has 1) and 4) in the bag. 4) is the easiest or least difficult. Don’t be fooled by the air show. 3) is on the cusp. 2) is bold. China saying they’re ready to deal. China has very good relations with the majority of the Arab world and admires Jewish people and their suffering and strength 5) is impressive through economic trade and development.

Four out of the Five. Xi is insane if he goes 5 for 5.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

1) Iran and Saudi Arabia

We'll see.

2) Israel and Palestine

Not in a million years.

3) Ukraine and Russia

Nope

4) China and Taiwan.

Nope

5) Turkey and Afghanistan

Literally what?

0 out of 5. Lawless countries with no values are no peacemakers. You can get a hotel to hold a conference in anywhere in the world.

I'm curious, did Japan, in its strong protestations and stance against Russia, China, and North Korea say they would break all ties with Russia, including business deals? No? Because this:

"“It is critical that sanctions be fully and scrupulously implemented by all states and remain in place for as long as North Korea’s WMD (weapons of mass destruction) and ballistic missile programs exist,”

Imagine if the other nations listening said, "We stand by you 100%, Japan, but we ask to be exempted from any punishments or negative feelings if we continue to do business with North Korea. N'kay?"
