I'm sure Iran immediately sat down and started reviewing it's whole game plan.

“But a nuclear Islamic Republic of Iran would be far more dangerous,”

Nuclear Japan proved much more damaging. I bet arabs could easily follow internationally accepted safety standards.

I like how Japan always pretends that it's some kind of player in world affairs.

How about the fact that the concept of a "premptive" strike is just plain immoral and wrong.

"The international community, including Japan, is putting unprecedented pressure on Iran..."

By begging the US to allow Japan to keep it's reliance on Iranian oil and not face US punishment as a result?

Exaclty!

How can iran wipe off the state of israel when Israel has 200 plus nuclear arsenals in store?

“Using a military option would not only provide an excuse to Iran but could unite the Arab world against Israel.”

Iran is not an Arab country. Iran's arab neighbors are less than excited at the idea of a nuclear Iran. Some countries have even shown unofficial support for Israel against Iran. If he's talking about the Islamic world, then it is not sure at all whether Sunnis would unite with Iran, a Shiite country.

Guillaume: You're right about most of what you say, but the fact remains -- a strike by Israel would unite pretty much all of the ME against Israel (and the world for that matter, but the US will always give Israel carte blanche for some unknown reason). Which nations, by the way, have shown the support you suggest towards Israel?

Kurumazaka, that quote you used about "wipe off the map " has been repeatedly proven as very poor translation. It was more about removing the regime, not annihilation as repeatedly misquoted.

Which nations, by the way, have shown the support you suggest towards Israel?

Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, amongst others (Azerbaidjan, even though it is not a ME country has recently open its bases to Tzahal in preparation for possible strikes). But I agree that the populations of these countries might react differently.

oh yeah genba as if the cabalists are going to listen to you!

Oh my God, this is starting to turn into a modern-day Cuban missile crisis. Let's hope things don't get that tense again!

I wonder how he and Japan would like it...if for years now, North Korea or China would continue to threaten to wipe Japan off the map as soon as they get nukes.. Messages from the President and the Prime Minister assuring the destruction of Japan..... Would Japan do nothing?... He has no right to tell Israel what to do!

Oh my God, this is starting to turn into a modern-day Cuban missile crisis. Let's hope things don't get that tense again!

We have a crazy guy (Iran's "president"), crazy countries (US and Europe), and a stockpile of munition.

Fun time

China would continue to threaten to wipe Japan off the map as soon as they get nukes.

China has nukes and ICBMs. They rather make money instead of ending humanity

I love how no matter what kind of article it is a bunch of people feel the need to immediately attack Japan. Riffraff

I'm sure Iran immediately sat down and started reviewing it's whole game plan.

Because obviously you could solve these issues with a snap of your fingers, how could the foreign minister be so stupid to push for diplomacy! The nerve of him!

Nuclear Japan proved much more damaging. I bet arabs could easily follow internationally accepted safety standards.

You are using past tense for something that isn't in the past, you can't compare something now with something in the future that has yet to come. Also nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants are two completely different things. Oh and finally Iranians are not Arabs.

I like how Japan always pretends that it's some kind of player in world affairs.

3rd biggest economy, one of the biggest importers of Middle eastern Oil, one of the largest exporters of technology. I'd say they have some sort of place in global affairs, as opposed to some random person on the internet with loud but simple opinions. Again how dare they call for a diplomatic solution as opposed to a military one.

pexa02,

Good contribution to the thread.

pexa02, that is because people generally do not believe that Japan may have an independent opinion. Here, however, he was speaking entirely in line with Japanese interests in the region, even though wrapping them in a mainstream cover.
