For important matters such as this, why on earth would we be leaving it in the hands of central government to organize?

Confused

They haven't even made a PLAN yet, let alone started to administer the shots. Japan is hope less sometimes.

They really have got to stop relying on the vaccine as the silver bullet to control the virus. At last count it was going to be at least October before Japan ample stocks of vaccine. Until that time comes the people of Japan have to rely on social distancing and washing their hands.

I am sure it doesn’t lack of plans. The bigger problem is, that there are more plans than vials. lol

PCR tests and quarantine will be with us for a long time until the global vaccination figures are high.

If only the PCR tests were 'with us' yet!

I am shocked, but not surprised at the farce we are seeing unravelling in slow motion. Apart from the incompetence around (not) getting the vaccine into people's arms, the lack of a holistic strategy for managing the pandemic is stunning. The govt wants to come out of lockdown next month, but they don't even have plans to control the inevitable uptick in cases, and with it, increased risk of more virulent mutations emerging, as people are out and about more.

And yet the government wants 20,000 health workers to divert from treatment and managing and the pandemic to volunteering at the Olympics?!!!

The association decided to form a group of liaison officials to improve communication

That's Japan in a nutshell. Pretty efficient stuff...

Quickly? As in, this year?

If you have no registered address in your home country anymore, it can be probably not easy to get vaccinated there.

Are there other countries where you have to be "officially registered" at a specific address like Japan? There can't be many. Such an archaic system.

Slowness of Japan comes from the fact that the government has to go through many procedures, in other word, bureaucracies control Japan. Also, the country is islands located far from countries where the pandemic is violently spreading to neighboring countries.

If I had a dollar for everytime I hear the "because Japan is an island" line, I'd be rich.

Is that the proper way for an elected official to sit at an official meeting? He is sitting like an elementary school second grader. At home it might be ok, but come on, clean up your act and look respectful in public at least.

Lets harass them for the lack of vaccine, but not semantics. He's obviously reading something or writing something on the desk.

Let the mass clinical trials of the Japanese begin.

If you get the shot in the UK, will you still need all that PCR tests and quarantine upon returning here. I suppose you will.

Of course, even when vaccinated there is still a chance you can still get covid and pass it on, vaccine greatly reduces the severity of the disease and possible long term effects, it does not offer 100% protection from covid. PCR tests and quarantine will be with us for a long time until the global vaccination figures are high.

* inoculations, which are expected to start with health care workers in mid-*February.

That’s next week and they’re still ‘expected...’? Doesn’t look like anything will be happening mid-February.

Also became aware just yesterday that in some areas, event organization companies are in charge of, or at least helping out with logistics for, vaccine "events" - for lack of a better word.

According to a doctor friend of mine, the plan is for doctor pairs will treat up to 90 patients a day. 90???

"We need a plan quick and the plan must be perfect and needs to be executed perfectly. Our plan will be a testament to the resilience and victory of humanity against the virus."

Since last year, I think, I was contracted with the corona at least three times. Each time, I took three tablets of "Lulu" and "kakkonto" (herb medicine) and recovered. When I see those who were hospitalized, they are suffering a lot from various side effects after they are released. I suspect the treatment at the hospitals have problems. Particularly those who were administered ECMO are suffering a lot. I do not want to be hospitalized and administered unverified treatment for the still much unknown disease.

Are some here in a hurry to get the shot.

Japan does not have the vaccine yet, that’s it.

But the hard working Nagatacho and Kasumigaseki public servants have already done the plan, subject to the vaccines delivery.

Of course they have the plans in place. This whole article is nonsense. I know for a fact that Chiba-ken has had its plan in place for over a month. Places booked, cards ready to post and people ready to carry out the procedures. They even had a "practice run", much to the amusement of many posters on JT.

Camp Zama forces all vaccinated. They started on civilians weeks back. SOFA status civilians. Not Japanese nationals.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I’ll be heading back to the UK next month and will have the vaccination there before most receive it in Japan.

As for returning to Japan?

The procedures both ways are a pain but perfectly doable.

In Japan very little gets done ‘quickly’-don’t those governors know that?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No, the US forces in Japan have been vaccinated.

No, they are in the process of it. It's not 100%

USFJ offered to vaccinate their Japanese base workers but the Japanese government DECLINDED the offer because of any possible issues that may arise from a vaccine not approved by the Japanese government.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Stop the "urging" and get with "demanding"! These governors and the people of Japan, are not blind, they watch the news and read the newspapers, they see the news about how every other developed country in the world is already vaccinating their people, and Japan hasnt even started yet!

Demand people not urge!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

I think for us, foreigners, it would be better to plan to go back to our home countries and get vaccinated there

If that is possible.

If you have no registeted adress in your home country anymore, it can be probably not easy to get vaccinated there.

I am not sure. It probably varies from country to country.

National Governors' Association pledged to double its efforts to bring the pandemic under control

Japan: 0

I dont expect anything before August.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

They have no plan hence the silence as they were too slow to order the correct vaccine and now more people will die and businesses go bankrupt because of the Japanese governments incompetence.

Governors urge gov't to quickly come up with vaccine rollout plans

What?! You mean there's not even a plan yet . Glad I didn't wait for Japan to get me Vaccinated .

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I hope they’ve already made a good plan, and are ready to make it public
