This article omits the racial slur Yoshida used-

[ DHC’s boss Yoshiaki Yoshida made the comments in a message on the company’s website.

In it, he disparaged rival firm, the beverage-making giant Suntory, as ‘Chontory’ for its use of Japanese-Korean models.

"Chon" is a derogatory term for Koreans in Japan. ]

Good on them.

And nothing will be done!

This is not something new,

When I showed the original article to my 2 (mixed) children they both said they already knew about this companies unofficial policy.

I asked how come

Well it turns out both their universities have "lists" of companies that do not hire non Japanese or mixed of course this list is not officially written down but when job hunting in their final years of university the counselors would tell them which companies not to try for because they will not hire them because they are not fully Japanese.

So it seems this has been a open "secret" for a very long time but as usual no one dared come out publicly and say it.

Good on them.

And the racial slur as well.?

Try saying "we don't use Jp parts in our cars" and wait for the Jpanese to cry foul.

DHC Don't Hire Chon?

One of Suntory's most effective whiskey adverts features a stunningly lovely model of Korean heritage. Anyone who wouldn't hire her is very bad at business!

"Chon" is a derogatory term for Koreans in Japan. ]

Technically, "chon" includes the Japanese royal family.

Looking ahead at a year when the two countries will co-host the World Cup finals, Akihito said he felt personal attachment to Korea because of the blood ties of his ancestors.

"I, on my part, feel a certain kinship with Korea, given the fact that it is recorded in the Chronicles of Japan that the mother of Emperor Kammu was of the line of King Muryong of Paekche," he told reporters.

Kammu, reigned Japan from 781 to 806 AD, while Muryong ruled the Paekche Kingdom in Korea from 501 to 523 AD.

Although he was quoting historical records, it is the first time that an emperor has publicly lauded the Korean blood in the imperial line.

More conclusive is the evidence that Nara was, in essence, a Korean colony. Excavation of burial mounds found throughout the prefecture has revealed earthenware artifacts virtually identical to those found in similar burial mounds on the Korean Peninsula. And nobody challenges the notion that Buddhism first entered Nara from there. The word “nara” itself means “motherland” in Korean.

There are also political implications involved, because a thorough investigation of all of Nara’s burial mounds could uncover the evidence to prove what many Japanese rightwingers and royalists most fear: that the current Imperial family really is descended from a Korean imperial family.

Well, this is not the first-time the 83 year old knuckle dragging right wing Yoshida Yoshiaki, Chairman and CEO of DHC Corporation has successfully rammed both feet in his mouth.

Korean residents in Japan should return to their homeland: DHC chairman

@SJ

So what is your point?

Nothing you pointed out changes anything.

The facts are that companies, government, stores, etc.. are legally permitted to discriminate towards non Japanese.

This fact has been upheld by the supreme Court when over several lawsuits by non Japanese for being refused service, housing, etc...

The courts consistently came to the conclusion the Constitution and laws against discrimination apply only to Japanese citizens.

My Japanese citizen mixed children have had the experience, oh it is subtle when interviewing for a job applying to high school and university.

All is great up until they see them and realise they are not pure Japanese then suddenly things change then you take a look at the school or company and notice not a single mixed person or non Japanese.

Both my children went to very good Japanese universities and both those universities shot down several major companies they wanted to apply for a job because they have unofficial no non Japanese, no mixed policies.

This is apparently well known by most universities in Japan all have this unwritten list of no go companies for non Japanese and mixed Japanese.

Dear South Korea

When will you protect Japanese people and Japanese companies located in Korea?

The racism, bias, hate, even attacks on Japanese have increased in S. Korea.

We have Koreans boycotting Japanese products on mass. It's so bad many Japanese businesses are closing down.

Trying to take Japanese companies Assets in S. Korea, even though we had the 1965 aggrement which settles such issues.

Again a one way street. In South Korea they burn with hate against Japan and our companies. No protection for our citizens, No protection for our companies!

Most Japanese do not seem to know the definition of pure Japanese. I enlighten you.

Archaeologists and anthropologists agree that the pure Japanese were Ainu, i.e., the Hokkaido Jomon people. The Jomon people were later mixed with the Yayoi people who crossed the Korea Strait. Accept the facts as they are, and there will be no problem.

BTW, during the Japanese colonial ruling of Korea from 1905-1945, no single Japanese civilian was killed by Koreans in Korea. This is also a fact.
