Yoon Mi Hyang suicide? Surprsing. Check again.

"has been found dead in an apparent suicide"

Lee never said like "*She used their suffering to line her own pockets.**

Disinformation is always widespread among netto-uyoku.

Vankers hate Japan so much they don't even support the former Comfort Women. Very sad, especially for the former CW.

I have a suspicion that “Civil Together” a faction within the DPK that Yoon had a close association with is running and/or the recipients of a political slush fund .

Yoon allegedly received transaction/donations directly through her personal bank accounts. Accusations of misappropriation for personal gain can hid a welter of political sleaze.

OssanAmerica, honestly, I am not arguing with you.

I am struggling with the theory that Yoon Mi Hyang suicide can be simply be dismissed as the actions of a petty thief.

Yoon Mi Hyang was the very definition of a case-hardened political activist.  Although it is hard to ignore the facts as the article below points out.

Yoon Mi Hyang had a singular hatred of Japanese culture and everything it stands for.

Yoon Mi Hyang life and political beliefs, as I believe the present SK government, has a connection to North Korean political influence.

And I believe Yoon Mi Hyang death, and subsequent accusation of embezzlement is a political smoke screen, a cynical political sleight of hand.

Trouble is I can’t prove it. So, it will sound like another conspiracy theory.

And clouds the underlining issue that Yoon Mi Hyang passing is hiding a whole machination to Pyongyang.

Lets be clear, Moon Mi Hyang, is not an embezzler.

Let's be clear. If Yoon Mi Hyang was not an embezzler she would have faced the charges in court and made every effort to prove her innocence. But she comitted suicide instead, an act which would only be taken if proving her innocence was impossible.

@OssanAmerica

*She used their suffering to line her own pockets.*

This is just a typical netto-uyoku way of thinking and talking.

So you are saying that Lee Yong Soo, a former Comfort Woman, is a "netto uyoku"? You seem to have forgotten where the charges against Yoon Mi Hyang came from. They did not come from anyone in Japan.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Sorry that is Yoon Mi Hyang. Deep bows

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Lets be clear, Moon Mi Hyang, is not an embezzler.

Moon Mi Hyang, political beliefs would determine that to be an anathema.

The political and economic structure that has been established over many years is evidence to the contrary.

@OssanAmerica

She used their suffering to line her own pockets.

This is just a typical netto-uyoku way of thinking and talking. Investigation by Korean presecutors was just started, and even no single word yet came out from the inquiry, but you seem to have already finished your own investigation. Netto-uyoku are amazing people, and S. Korean presecutors may need to get help from them.

Well, our chorus of angels are assuming a certain Japanese viewpoint that often see when anything about South Korea is brought up. All I know is what I read in JT.

There are a great many people who are not "Japanese" that disagree with South Korea's approach to relations with Japan. And honestly, I doubt there are any Japanese posters of any significant number on JT.

If I precribed by your logic, you and all others are South Korean vankers, speading nationalist anti-JP propaganda on internet news sites. Constantly talking about "Japanese right wing" when South Korea is en tirely right wing.

This woman, Yoon Mi Hang victimized the actual surviving Comfort Women. She used their suffering to line her own pockets. Have you no compassion for the Comfort Womem themselves? Or are you just enjoying the anti-JP stance?

The overriding concern importance is the welfare of such frail comfort women/pensioners.

Frankly the whole “comfort woman” issue surrounding the plight these old women have had to endure has been compounded by the hijacking by a poisonous and toxic form of political activism.

The Government of South Korea need to get a handle on this whole subject. These political parasitic groups need to be disbanded.

And an agenda needs to focus on reconciliation and a recognition that modern day Japanese society has changed beyond recognition in respect to the brutality inflicted by Imperial Japanese Army in occupied countries.

I don’t take any pleasure in the tragic death of Yoon Mi Hyang, her passing, suicide or other, must be a turning point.

Official Investigations, police inquiries need to have broad remit to fully probe and explore the origins/sources of donations to these political groups.  Both how these monies were distributed, and there purpose.

Some Japanese responses here and from netto-uyoku just justify why the movement on the comfortwomen should go on regardless of all messy speculations and allegations.

Victor, most importantly a lot of the posters express the right-wing Japanese view of South Koreans, which is extremely negative as well as untrue. Notice how some our usual poster tore into the dead women before any sort of official information was released, and then went wildly off the point complaining about how Japan is supposedly victimized by South Korea.

We cannot yet say, if we ever can, why this unfortunate woman killed herself. Meanwhile, we mustt marvel at the overflowing expressions of Japanese compassion emanating from this thread.

I doubt there are very many Japanese people on this site. Based on the slant of opinions on this site, I would speculate that it's mostly foreigners living in Japan.

Why do you assume it's "Japanese" compassion?

Dear Nippon government,

How much more evidence do you need before you realize S. Korea is using the comfort women issue as an Anti-Japan tool

They also want to change the name of Japan Sea.

Want to go back on aggrements signed.

Dont like our flag.

Illegally occupied Japanese Island in the 50s after Japan became a pacifist country and WW2 just ended. Opportunistic is Koreas middle name.

They have respect for North Korea, China, Russia, America. While they have infinite hate and disrespect for Japan, Koreans set themselves on fire that's how much they hate Japan.

Do you know what those countries don't do? Why Korea respects them?

They dont show weakness. They don't apologies. They don't pay compensation.

China is responsible and helped North Korea during the war. America and Russia devided Korea in half. They have better relations with all those countries compared to Japan. Fact

It's misleading to show a picture of a person, who is different from the person committed suicide.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Oldman wrong, borscht right. Innocent until proven guilty, suicide proves nothing save mental stress.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

*I think oldman is right. This woman used the suffering of former CWs to line her own pockets, making the CW suffer twice and to foment hatred for Japan that has distorted even diplomatic relations between the two nations. Being investigated by the Prosectors alone is hardly a cause for suicide, otherwise there would be constant suicides all the time. She was caught with no hope of proving innocence and took the only way out. So here is a woman who has been charged by an actual former Comfort Woman. With sufficient cause for an investigation. And yet there are those who stand up for her.
6 ( +10 / -4 )

@oldman

"Suicide no doubt, which shows her guilt..."

Incorrect.

According to (possibly any or all laws, almost anywhere), "suicide" does not "show guilt".

Until you present evidence to the contrary, especially under Korean law, we'll just leave your little comment in the "complete and utter tripe" area, where it belongs, shall we?

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

Committing suicide while helping women who have endured events thousands times more traumatic, she should have passed her role much esrlier.

RIP

Suicide no doubt, which shows her guilt.

Or perhaps killed to protect the higher ups...

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Sincere condolences to Yoon Mi Hyang family. Taking one life leaves only shock, distress, and pain for family /friends left behind to mourn, grieve and contemplate the motivation for such drastic action.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

@oldman

spot on !

5 ( +15 / -10 )

What an unfortunate turn of event. May she rests in peace.

We shouldn't speak ill of the dead. Innocent until proven guilty, no? Hopefully the truth will come sooner or later.

1 ( +12 / -11 )

Suicide doesn’t show anything except a psychological situation the woman couldn’t handle. To be under investigation by a government is incredibly stressful; some people can’t handle that pressure and succumb to suicide. Not infrequently they are later found to be innocent.

13 ( +26 / -13 )

This scandal is getting messier.... any possibility of foul play for "an apparent suicide"?

Hope they won't put all blames upon evil "imperial" Japan...

15 ( +20 / -5 )

Suicide no doubt, which shows her guilt.

Truly despicable beyond words organizing a systematic hate campaign against Japan using comfort women as a cover, while lining her pockets for personal use of funds that were for comfort women.

Anyone that excuses or glosses over this is no better.
