Well of course she did. USA gets to occupy Japan, turn it into a front line state for the wars USA is provoking, ensuring Japan has a bad relationship with it's neighbors to suit US interests and Japan pays for it. It's perfect for the US regime.

Biden fighting for his political survival,60 percent of party members say he should not run for a second term, meaning Harris has to make a choice for her political ,if she will support Biden ,damaging her political future, most party members in America, are entitled too their own political agenda

Of course Harris would like to portray what the US is doing in a positive light-

"The alliance between Japan and the United States is a cornerstone of what we believe is integral to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region," she said at the Akasaka Palace.

However, many countries and people disagree with her.

“Very few in any public surveyed think American democracy is a good example for other countries to follow,” Pew’s report said.

blah blah blah blah blah.......

many countries and people disagree with her.

Yes, the communist leadership in North Korea and China, Myanmar's junta, etc.

However, the saner societies of Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, and yes, Vietnam are damn happy the US has a large military presence in the region and is willing to flex its muscles when needed.

You mean she just figured that out???

Abe did such a fine job that the US felt it should have sent its commander in chief but it didn’t.

The legacy of which some might state has become a "lodestone" or worse a "tombstone"

In the above photo, I see that VP Harris is shaking hands with PM Kishida -- and both are not wearing a mask. Again, what is the reasoning for insisting that visiting foreigners wear a mask? Do dignitaries not carry viruses?

Vietnam? Seriously? Is it a joke? The corrupt regimes in those countries may or may not be happy with the US military presence in the region but the vast majority of the population of those countries, including Japan, most certainly are not.

Kishida said Abe "poured his heart and soul" into strengthening ties between their two countries.

Does anybody have a spare sickbag?

She is very important to the people of Japan and she knows it. Without America here in Japan, Tokyo Tower would be ShenZhen Tower. And all of the Japanese Nationals would bow to Xi Jinping and the People's Liberation Army.

@JeffLee

Sorry you misinformed again about South Korea and its view of the US-

[Another headline, in sisajournal, a South Korean popular weekly current events magazine, reads: “‘Is the U.S. actually a democratic country?’”

...Now, many Koreans see the U.S. as a failing country, deeply divided and unable to meet basic challenges.]

Excellent post.

@Axel

Vietnam? Seriously? I

yes. you missed my other post of a recent Pew Research poll that finds that pro-American sentiment is higher in Vietnam than any other country in the world. 84%, Many people (like me) who go there and talk to the people will also confirm this. Today's Vietnamese really love how the US Navy can and does stand up to the dreaded Chinese in their nearby waters.

However, Noam Chomsky, your liberal arts prof, and the left media will never tell you this.

I posted the link, so you can read it. Knowledge is a powerful weapon -- especially when gained before posting on JT.

Well Jeff I guess the Vietnamese you talked to didn't tell you the whole truth regarding what they really think about America's leaders-

[ And finally, Ngoc says, the Vietnamese can embrace Americans now because Uncle Ho told them to. That’s what many Vietnamese call the father of their modern nation, Ho Chi Minh. Ho led the country to triumph: first they kicked out the French colonizers, then they humiliated the United States. But many Vietnamese will tell you that even during the war, Ho said they shouldn’t blame the American people for causing their suffering. They should blame America’s leaders. ]

Surely she should visit L'il Kim and threaten him with dire consequences if he fires any more missiles into the sea?

It's pretty remarkable how, over 2 millennia, Japan has not had positive interactions with Mainland Asia other than the 7th & 8th century interactions with Tang China. For centuries after the only positive link was Buddhist priests visiting the Mainland to learn and return to Japan with knowledge of the wider world.

Actually Japan had good relations with Korea from around the third century.

Then owing to a conflict on the Korean peninsula the kingdom of Baekjae (known in Japanese as Kudara) migrated to Japan...

Harris calls U.S.-Japan alliance 'a cornerstone'

A cornerstone for what?

Kamala Harris is not the first U.S. VIP who called the Japan-U.S. alliance a cornerstone. By hyping the importance of the alliance, however, the U.S. seems to be signaling a message that the U.S. miliary presence in Japan, in Okinawa in particular, will last forever.

Well of course she did. USA gets to occupy Japan, turn it into a front line state for the wars USA is provoking,

-The US occupation of Japan ended in 1952. Okinawa in 1972.

-The only countries militarily provoking others are China and North Korea. Russia has gone beyond provoking.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Some US politicians say Kamala Harris doesn't have excellent international affairs etiquette and gets lost in foreign countries and palaces, but I personally believe she is doing her job well, she is cute, here Kamala is representing people of America at the former prime minster Shinzo Abe state funeral in Japan.

By hyping the importance of the alliance, the U.S. seems to be signaling a message that the U.S. miliary presence in Japan, in Okinawa in particular, will go on forever.

Thus, for the U.S., landfill work in Henoko for the construction of Futenma's replacement is a very satisfactory move on the part of Japan, fulfilling the promise it made to the U.S. over the heads of Okinawa. Okinawa's strong opposition to it, as has been repeatedly shown in referendums, polls and ongoing protests is out of their mind because the two countries share the same precious values of democracy.
