Asian Way is definitely the best way for Asian countries. If only the neighbors of Indonesia have the same wisdom.

What's the Asian way? There are a lot of Asian countries being run in different ways and it is hard for me to discern some commonality.

It's fine to have an Asian Way but that shouldn't mean ignoring human rights which frankly are in a shamble throughout SE Asia.

When you are lost and don't possess coherent foreign policy, you then have to rely on intangible such as the 'Asian Way'.

China is the most populist nation, should the Asian Way be like China's coercion, illegal subjugation of other ethnics Tibetan, Xianjian, Mongolian, Cantonese....oh I forgot Indonesia does the same with the Buddhist Balinese, West Papuan (and previously the Timor people) as well.

Wow. An Asian way as opposed to the dictatorship communist way. (China/Hong Kong,Taiwan, Tibet, India/China way. How about the Myanmar way? That’s Asian! How is the Korean way working with North Korea? Maybe the Japanese way? Please be more specific? Because I think the ONLY way is to talk, listen, and compromise, only thing is sometimes there is a greedy dictator who thinks their way is the best way. Not sure how we’d class Russia though, European and Asian?

More people live in oppression in Asia ,than any continent in the world

I have many Indonesian friends and they were very nervous of this man being elected in, and so, I pray he will keep peace as he has declared.

No good will ever come from Prabowo's rise from the blood-stained gutter of his atrocities and corruption to the highest office in the land. Indonesians will regret their overlooking his track record of violence and indulging his openly fascist mentality that will set back Indonesia still struggling to recover from his ex-father-in-law's 31-year brutal and corrupt dictatorship as the people tread the long and winding road to a modern democracy.

Nearly 80% of Indonesians see Beijing’s South China Sea actions as threat.

It is fine to give voice to the idea of being friendly to all and not taking sides, but with China's nine dash line cutting into Indonesia's EEZ, they will need to either give up their territory to China, or join all the others opposing Chinese attemts to alter ownership and or control of their recognised territory many hundreds of miles from the nearest actual Chinese land.

S.Korea should be grateful for North Korea, without them S.K would be another small Asian country.

"Buddhist Balinese " eh ?

Nope , Balinese are generally Hindu { a Bali version } and in some area, Muslim.

Cant see any Buddhists though and I've been multiple times.

The Bali way is tolerance and a big smile....works for me.

The ‘Asian’ way…?

LOL, you can exploit semantics, but fools no one that Balinese Hinduism is vastly subjugated by Islamism, AND has the same roots as Buddhism, particularly in the Bali context. You crack me up ROFL.

Why do they always live at the mercy of others, and seek others to secure their fail way of doing things, the US is not perfect, but it has circuit breakers to see that Liberty Equality and Justice for All are the norm

The President of Indonesia did the right thing when he told these Yankees that I trade with whomever I want and have business contacts. And don’t sell them anything at a cheap price, Democrats pay in full.
