While relying on coal plants is something countries need to move away from, right now, the biggest factor is auto emissions. Japan actually does a good job on that end. The US, China, and India account for over 50% of auto emissions. Hybrid vehicles are still not as popular as they should be in America. Once that Hybrid tax rebate ended in America, people went right back to gas guzzlers.

Or Japan can ignore them and other investors will get a better return.

If investors give me a tip please to the latest available tech to generate electricity not using coal, stable enough to handle for Japan?
