I guess Japan does have the advantage of not needing its ships protected from Iranian terrorism.

Iran's Foreign Ministry will seek to manage tensions with Washington and rebuild ties with European countries, but only if they abandon their "hostile approach" while aiming to revive the 2015 nuclear deal and lift sanctions.

Going to be little tough to do that while the Iranian missiles are flying.

The thug standover extortionist will not enjoy Japan diplomacy nor Turkey teaming up with China and Iran nor Russia supplying the Houties the long range blastistic missiles. This on top their own homeland on edge of mass civil disobedience. Per 7/10 era meets post 7/10 new geopolitical era.

Japan has always had a "close" relation with Iran since the days of Mossadegh. That has allowed Japan to act to sound out Iranian positions on matters where the US could not directly.
