Is Abe spending national money again to avert people's attentions from his scandal and strengthen his position? I wonder where the government can generate huge money to help other countries while Japan is ridden with enormous debts.

330million dolars is enough for day care for every single tax paying over 70 year old in Japan for a year.

The US & UK are responsible for the mess that is Iraq today. Let them pay for it, not the tax payers of Japan.

"Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi sought international support in Japan on Thursday to restore peace and prosperity in his country, torn by extremism."

And having been nearly totally destroyed by Bush, Cheney and Blair in a "war" based on complete lies.

More money for the coffers of crooks milking the golden cow for all its worth. These guys have it down to a fine art. 330 million. Has a nice ring to it. Move along.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi sought international support in Japan

ie. begging for money

Who is that 7 foot white bloke in the back row, is he meant to be there? lol

7 ( +7 / -0 )

luckily iraqi politicians are not corrupt and all our money will go to the people.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This is madness.

How many more millions are we going to waste in Iraq, when that money lines the politician's coffers and barely anything goes to the people it's supposed to help? Not to mention ISIS will get some of that money also.

Ahhh.... but if Japan properly follows through on this, Trump might just change his mind regarding tariffs. Itchy backs and such and Japan sends a definite message on where it stands. A very interesting Political / Strategic move.

Money down the drain.  If Abe could find them a Saddam replacement THAT might restore "peace and prosperity" (hmmmm) in Iraq.

"Conference on Supporting Job Creation and Vocational Training to Facilitate Weapons Reduction" that's quite a monicommon, Perhaps CSJCVTFWR might have been easier. Much smaller banner needed. More money tossed into a black pit.

Cricky.. who come up with these titles... in fact what does it even mean and how the first two even arrive to weapons reduction... ,can anyone specify what this money is being paid for really?

oh and the white guy is the resident CIA facilitator probably.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Hope the vocational training doesn't include electronics and use of a soldering iron, give a man a bomb he uses it once, teach him to make them and there is mayhem and disaster.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

it probably exactly whats its for.... that way it actually will reduce weapons by blowing them....

Good news, irrigation projects in Iraq are vital to restabilizing that country as IS destroyed a lot of the ancient waterways in that area.

Also, it appears some here are unable to read English (which is an alarming handicap for English teachers), this is a loan not a handout. Well done to Abe on this one

7 ( +7 / -0 )

It would be interesting to know the terms of the loan. Also that of others loans that Japan has made in the past, along with details of how the money was spent and how much has been returned since the loans took place.
