You are talking about 2 different things. The Saudi economy is almost completely dependent on selling oil. They need to diversify into other income sources and businesses. Japan should have plenty of good advice, since it sells no oil at all.

So far as shaking hands with murderers and psychopaths, that's a standard part of politics. Always has been.

Not a single country or president has stopped dealing with Saudi Arabia because of this. Probably all presidents shook hands with him this weekend but people only judge by photos.

Saudi Arabia elites have never worked. They have just enjoy huge rents from oil selling.

Basically none in Saudi elite is able to work seriouly even 10 hours a week.

I have no sympathy for these people. They can collapse tomorrow.

@zichi, what do you think Abe is doing then? Japan need oil and Saudi Arabia can provide it in return for our help with our sectors. Is call politics. Because of the ban of oil from Iran by the USA, Japan need to secure other allies in the middle east. We can complain whatever we want about how many human rights that country has violated but that doesn’t change the fact that the world relied on the middle east to keep the ecomomy going. You don’t want to see just how bad things can go if a country can’t secure enough oil. Then whole country would lynch Abe.

If Abe doesn’t do it, then China or Russia would happily do it,then we even more screwed. Is called building relationship with other nations. No developed nation can survive without it,. This is the reality of the world.

Zichi, i disagree. Because we are living in islands is a lot harder for us. Especially because we suffer from sever weather natural disasters every year. From earth quakes to rain storms and fierce winters. Those so called new ways to replace to oil just doesn’t work for Japan. Mainly because it cost a lot to replace them and they just get easily destroy from one natural disaster. We live here with the mindset that once things break down,we can easily replace it. Cheap,fast and replaceable. Which is way cars here are cheaper and weaker than let say in the USA which are very heavily armored. Here after it get destroyed from tsunami or whatever,we can easily buy another one.

You want us to find ways to replace oil, but that will cost a fortune and a majority of the companies can’t afford it. It would destroy us by doing so. It all depend on where you lived.
