So essentially this is going to be another CHOCOLATE CAKE, golfing and and shaking gravy pants summit?

Trump is getting ready to leave the house and Abe tells him don’t forget to buy milk.

I don’t think shi is gonna get to have anymore chocolate cake with his new anti tariff play.

Oh he will, as soon as he threatens to cancel Trump's new trademarks in China and close down his and his daughter's businesses in China. Personal interests are the most important thing to Trump. Not his own nation or his own people.

*Hand shaking grabby pants summit!

damn you autocorrect!!

Both are becoming the leaders of the past.

The Japanese government is panicking as it gets sidelined from the North/South/Trump summits and will lose any say on the outcome.

Without knowing the rational behind Washington leaving Japan out of the exclusions to the tariffs it is impossible to say what the outcome will be.

Seems like a short flight to the DMZ - or even better to Pyeongyang - would be more impressive and likely yield better results.

US media described him as the leader of Japan.

@ Toshiko--

US media described him as the leader of Japan.

Really?! That's kind of what Presidents and Prime Ministers of their country are described as.

Time Abe visit Trump, Putin. and Trump will be meeting. And also Tornado season.

No, the luxurious chocolate cake was reserved for Xi Jinping.

Expect lots of media coverage of firm handshakes in front of flags followed by golf and dinner photo ops.

Yeah, and we saw how that went. Botchan felt queasy after that long handshake. And he was ignored by Trump during the golf round in favour of Matsuyama. In fact, he was following Trump around like a caddy, and also found time to roll down the bunkers in front of national TV cameras.

Or Abe could be having a hissy fit because Kim is currently enjoying a "surge in popularity" in China and the Korean peninsula. Totally not a fan of this crazy guy, but I enjoy watching anything that gets Abe mad.

You should declare and practice a Nippon First Policy STAT!

Kind of hard to do when the country has US military bases and is under the protection of the US nuclear umbrella!

Can we drop the abduction nonsense already. If you really had wanted it settled it would have been long ago. It’s just a political issue now. The families are just being used. Embarrassing that that’s all they have to bargain with.

This is totally crass. Tell that to the parents and families that are still waiting on news regarding their loved one's. The families WANT Trump to do something because their own leaders are incompetent and dont give a crap other than paying lip service to the families.

Abe needs to be very careful. Playing with the Devil is a quick way to get burnt.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Abe is also expected to discuss stiff U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and urge Trump to exclude Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters.

Anytime the word "urge" gets used with Abe it always ends up in failure

Am I mistaken or has the President of the USA succumbed to a Mr Miyagi greeting

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Inevitable. All the players will be talking to their allies afore the summit.

And well they should. Because if Moon and Xi push Trump into accepting North Korea with nukes & missiles intact, there actually exists the possibility that Japan may have no choice but to go nuclear. And that's something that Japan does not want. Other than that, there's nothing to be concerned about, they couldn't care less about being "sidelined", whatever that entails.'

Psssst... Shinzo, please go to Pyongyang instead and talk to Kim directly!

Trump and USA have been pulling your legs lately and you still doesn't realize?

You should declare and practice a Nippon First Policy STAT!

Luckily the 20th is Shinzos Premium Friday.

Yubaru

I agree that such comments are totally crass, and this issue of abductions does need to be resolved for the sake of the families.

But I think that this can be treated as a separate issue between Japan and NK rather than at the USA/ NK summit and done at a later date.

Trump's latest agenda is against immigrants. He will coach Abe.

"shaking gravy pants" is just as likely in this White House.

So we will get crappy American cars , and trade disadvantages and abe will try to destroy any peace so we will probably get nuked and he'll come back and get reelected because of the media

Suga should look at the picture and clearly see a Trumpy predator facial expression pouncing on a simple smilin Shinzo!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Are we gonna have a repeat comedy golf performance from Shinchan, repeat with sand trap shenanigans and hurrying after Trump like a little lapdog?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Looks like PM Abe is crushing President Trump’s hand and enjoying it.

I totally agree, but due to Abe's incompetence, the only thing Japan can do is sit on the sidelines on this and other issues. He has little leverage with NK and NEEDS Trump, China, and SK to do the leg work for him!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I'd like to say again: - only one way ticket to him, please!

No, Abe going to the US to receive his orders from Washington.
