OK, we got it, "Japan is bad". Then what exactly Japan should do about Taiwan? How does your country "treat Taiwan as a country"?

Many Japanese don’t know or would prefer not to know but the Senkaku Islands are also claimed by Taiwan. In fact, Taiwan was the first country to raise claims to the islands in 1970. China followed suit in 1971.
Most Japanese right-wing supporters forget Taiwan stole multiple technology from Japanese industry and to tell you the truth they are not much different than china, south korea...
They fuc.. up with the Japanese chip business.

A good place to train diplomats for future postings to a Japanese embassy in Taiwan. When Taiwan eventually gets treated as the nation it is, Japan will be well placed to have knowledgeable people to dispatch there earlier than most. That is how it should be as Taiwan is a close neighbor.
Good move Japan.

That's good news, so it's a nothing burger then.
Thanks for the report.

so a new post to throw all the blame of not doing anything about it? what is the point if Japan can't even treat Taiwan as a country?
Alan Harrison
Did Taiwan ask for this? Really. Taiwan and it's relations with PROC is non of Japans business.

Hmm, this seems to be another Abe's faction machination.
As long as it stays as just a post, it would be no issue.

That is correct. But Taiwan claimed them for access to fishing resources. Eventually Taiwan and Japan reached a fishing agreement that satisfied both parties. However, China took advantage of Taiwan's claim and made it their own (on the grounds that Taiwan is theirs). And China's objective unlike Taiwan's, is strategic. It would help the Chinese PLA Navy break the first island chain and get out to the Pacific to challenge the dominant position of the United States Navy. It would also further China's position towards possible action towards Taiwan and Okinawa.

Really? First I have heard of that. Can you provide a source?
As far as I know they are sending "dignitaries", unlike Australia, the US, NZ or UK. Xi did not attend the Tokyo Olympics so it was never going to be the PM anyway.

A nice step towards supporting Taiwan…..Now what are they going to call such a post.

It won't hard to find senior people since in many offices in Japan, always have senior people that in really need for position.
