Poland has the highest number of refugees, about 3 million. Japan makes money in Poland so it is right to help it out with the refugee problems.

Good for Kishida and Japan helping Poland share the burden.

Poland is doing a great job in assisting Ukrainians - they too have bitter memories of being targeted by the genocidal, despicable Russians through history.

why my tax money goes to America’s proxy war?

Why your heart and soul goes to Russia's real war is the question you should be asking yourself.

@Rodney

Your argument is spurious

How about the millions of non English speaking migrants, from different continents locating to the US?

Didn't seem a problem to me

Plenty of migrants to Japan have also flourished

Why not take in more Ukrainians that need a home and safety?

Thank you, Nihon!

Promises made...

Noble thing Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is offering Poland which has done much and doing much to help Ukraine defend herself against Russian aggression. And taking in millions of Ukraine refugees. Poland is not a rich country.

So we’re increasing defence spending. We are going to increase the child care budget.we going to increase the health care budget. Increase pension provision. With an aging population, falling birth rate, increases I. taxes coming and he still wants to give more away. One good thing about politicians and that is they are rather slow to open the Cheque book. There must be a bonsai money tree somewhere cause this is amazing.

Increase the kokumin pension provision from 32,000yen a month to 34,000yen a massive increase of 2,000yen. If you hit sixty five without large savings in this country you as you have to work

mean jobs till you die and not to talk of being a foreigner with the limited possibilities you are doomed.

The bureacrats and politicians have so much disdain for the plebs who pay their taxes.

TaiwanIsNotChina:

Russia clearly stole four islands from Japan at the end of WW2. It supports North Korea. It most likely would support or even join in on an invasion of Taiwan. All of these things should concern you.

Respectfully quite as clear as Japan wishes to make out.The Japanese treaty of Shimoda agreed to share the islands as both had claims. Northern to Russia and the south to Japan. 1855ish.

Japan also attacked the northern island taking the northern island during the Russia Japan war against the previous treaty. It is also worth checking the treat of Portsmouth 1905. Then Japan retool the islands in the 1920s against the treaty of Portsmouth. Then returning it to Russian in1925.

Also the Allie’s in WW2 agreed that Russia would enter the war on the Allie’s side and help defeat Japan. Hence the invasion northern China against Japan and the northern isles . So this was agreed with Churchill, Rosevelt, et al. And agreed to by president Truman to return the islands as per the 1905 treaty. I’m no fan of Russia at the moment but historical context about Japan is important. Apart from that Japan started a war, lost it and should accept the consequences of that. You don’t get to start a war and keep everything you want. The same goes for Russia and the Ukraine war.

You do indeed bring up a good point in regards to Taiwan and how China is watching how this war is playing out. One things for sure though China could accept and take the financial sanctions if they were applied but the west probably would go hard on that.China also has its financial power too. Sadly created by the west greed for cheap junk.

Kishida promises aid to help Poland

Sorry to bust your bubble Poland, but Kishida is nothing but talk.

Ask him how he has YET to help any of the middle-poor class Japanese citizens in his own country.

Russia is doing nothing aggressive to us. In fact, they give us cheap energy, well did.

Russia clearly stole four islands from Japan at the end of WW2. It supports North Korea. It most likely would support or even join in on an invasion of Taiwan. All of these things should concern you.

during WW2, Ukrainian Nazis massacred over 100,000 Poles, and took a large portion of western Ukraine from them.

Russia stoped the Nazis.

Ukrainians also helped stop the Nazis. Lot of good it did them when Russia would go full Nazi sixty years later. East Ukrainians say the destruction is worse from Russian Nazis.

Well done PM Kishida.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Predict the future by looking to the past. It has been over 75 years since WW2. The world was rather peaceful on a macro scale. A world war 3 only ends with massive death and nuclear destruction. How do I know? Look how ww2 ended. And factor in all the big boys have nukes now.

I remember when the only nuclear worry was a bit of cesium in the air. Life is but a dream.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

well done

Respectfully quite as clear as Japan wishes to make out.The Japanese treaty of Shimoda agreed to share the islands as both had claims. Northern to Russia and the south to Japan. 1855ish.

And this effects the Northern Territories how?

Only a criminal country like Russia would think that walking away with new territories until the sun explodes is fair. It's literally 19th century behavior and Russia is still doing it.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Good on him, but weapons would be more effective by ending the war faster.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Interesting!

Japan would rather aid other countries take in and take care of refugees than them doing it.

-3 ( +13 / -16 )

For a few months after the war broke out, there were peace talks going on between Ukraine and Russia. Then the talks were suspended abruptly when Zelensky demanded the return of Crimea to Ukraine as a condition for ceasefire, something that the Russians could never accept.

It's almost as if warcriming and annexing your way to glory has a way of making your victims angry with you.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Talk is cheap. I’m sure he there in Poland just for the publicity and short lived fame.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

We have seen this before. Japan trying to take credit for the efforts of Poland.

like-minded countries such as Japan and Poland

What are the similarities? Can we compare Japan and Poland in the support they are giving to Ukraine? As in actual support, not pretty words.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

that guys talk is cheap.Poland dont need help with refugees, men need be sent back home to protect country against hordes of moskals.rest can get space in whole EU or even USA so I see no problem at all.

that pathetic guy wanna play nice guy i other countries but many problems at home with life or own citizens remains unsolved.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Ah, "stand united in support for Ukraine and further sanctions on Russia" so, "lip service and begging to be an exception".

Seriously, though, why not take on more refugees yourself, Japan, instead of just throwing money at countries that are willing to? Poland will obviously get far more given the location, but still. You want to "stand behind" Ukraine? Open the doors for more people. Make THAT the exception to your unnecessarily strict immigration policies, especially give the population problems here.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

We should look forward to Kishida bring in more Ukrainians and Polish people to Japan?

Awful idea! Japan is a crap destination for any refugees.

-9 ( +16 / -25 )

@David Brent

Better to be in a safe country than a war zone -down voters = compassionless

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Japan is a not a member of EU. Not a member of NATO. Poland is not a member of G7.

my food and living cost bills have increased by around 20%. My partner had to take on a second job to pay our mortgage.

Russia is doing nothing aggressive to us. In fact, they give us cheap energy, well did.

why my tax money goes to America’s proxy war? We already pay for bases, and housing for US military.

-10 ( +16 / -26 )

For a few months after the war broke out, there were peace talks going on between Ukraine and Russia. Then the talks were suspended abruptly when Zelensky demanded the return of Crimea to Ukraine as a condition for ceasefire, something that the Russians could never accept. This war has to continue for a long time, long enough for western weapons industry to make big profits.

-11 ( +9 / -20 )

Japan's pledges we all know how it will end.

-12 ( +15 / -27 )

@Dave

A safe country is in Europe or Russia. Not in a Japanese speaking country on the other side of the northern hemisphere.

in Europe, Ukrainian refugees, migrants, gold diggers can jump the queue over asylum seekers whose countries are devastated by US/UK/NATO illegal wars and invasions. They also get generous benefits compared the the average $200 a month they normally get for working. They can also take holidays back to Ukraine.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Rodney,Poland is a member of NATO and the EU,it a backwards country, that want women, barefoot and pregnant and get registered,if you get knocked up ,a banana republic without bananas

-17 ( +2 / -19 )

10 of million of Ukrainain will flee at the end of summer to Western Europe, because they have no support of the lost cause in Ukraine

-21 ( +6 / -27 )

We should look forward to Kishida bring in more Ukrainians and Polish people to Japan?

It might be problematic housing them somewhere though
