so badly played by LDP. why don't they just kick the cult out of the government and move on?

Asked whether he would consider stepping down as minister, Yamagiwa said he would take responsibility by staying on as minister and carrying out the administration's economic stimulus measures.

In other words, he is taking a page out of the LDP book of excuses....screw you people!

Asked whether he would consider stepping down as minister, Yamagiwa said he would take responsibility by staying on as minister and carrying out the administration's economic stimulus measures.

So he will take responsibility by not getting any consequences of his actions, which are not just to have an improper relationship with the unification church but also lying about it hoping he would not get caught.

As long as he faces no consequences it becomes obvious the whole list is just a Joke and the LDP is not willing to make the members related assume any responsibility.

The cult isnt IN the government, it's the government that is in the cult.

Let an independent watchdog body investigate it, and that's quicker and more comprehensive.

However on Tuesday, Economy Minister Daishiro Yamagiwa admitted in a news conference he had attended a Unification Church-sponsored event in 2018 that he had not previously reported to the party.

He's the first one to leave the post. Lies are piling up.

""The low ratings are close to what political analysts see as a danger level beyond which Japanese prime ministers may find it difficult to carry out their agenda.""

Sure, does anyone really think that LDP members are going to risk loosing their paychecks and come forward, I doubt it, only when confronted they might and even then they still cling on to that salary and stay away from the spotlight.

I am hopping that the LDP will soon publish that list as they should so THE PEOPLE can decide the direction of this nation.

We see how the Catholic church has been embedded in the UK; see how Islam is embedded in the Middle East so I see no problem with politicians in Japan being embedded with the Unification Church. Religion and politics have been mixing since the Ancient Egyptian era.

Which LDP ministers are entangled with Unification?

*Gary Oldman from The Professional walks in.....

'EVERYONE!!'

I can't believe that these LDP "members" are so consumed with greed, position, and power that they would sign up to some foreign entity with dubious practices and they would put it before their country's interests. If it were a Japanese organization then I could kinda understand but still protest. Certainly not the Japanese way.

If I were Japanese or indeed allowed to vote, every single one of those members would get booted. Why is this okay Japanese WHY!?

“Update”?

Deceptive LDP mere tried to make relation with cult look small.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Meh, I would assume they all have connections to this "church" unless proven otherwise.

Korean Unification Church. Targeting Japanese citizens, taking advantage of women with children and old people.

North Korean Schools in Japan, Chōsen gakkō. Brainwashing Koreans to hate Japan. Teaching them anti-Japan garbage on Japanese Soil.

Pachinko Machines, taking money from hard working Japanese with gambling addiction, taking all their money. Mainly owned by Korean business and influence.

All Korean influence should be under investigation in Japan..... This is just the tip of the iceberg. Korean hands in many more areas that we need to investigate before it's too late.

Update? Why not tell the truth in the first place?

Condoned by the LDP.

How ironic that the LDP have tacitly encouraged the spread of rhetoric like this when it's the LDP who should be investigated first.

If you researched who controls the LDP and who ultimately made the Unification Church, you would have your answer.

Right you are Simon!

this whole situation has thrown egg not only in the faces of the LDP, but also the right wing in general. They can no longer be seen to be protecting Japan's interest when the right wing political representatives, the LDP, are in bed with a S Korean church that also has ties not only SK but also the North.

Its especially significant when one of the main accusations leveled at the Communist Party is that they had ties to outside governments, but here we have the Church with ties also to communist regimes.

And the list starts with Abe and Kishida...

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

BREAKING: I have obtained an “updated” copy. It reads as follows:

All of them.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Well, obviously it'll be a list we can trust since it's an internal investigation and all.

Personally I don’t like that overdoing in this case. We have surely other problems than this sect from Korea and politicians holding a speech at their meetings when invited. It’s quite a media hype and of course the opposition also uses it while lacking other or own political solutions. Just imagine you are an active politician and someone with unity , world peace and all such phrases on the flag asks you to say some greeting words. Can you assure to deny it always or often enough, even if you know that it’s a religious sect? You get under fire too and it’s said you don’t like United people, a peaceful world and such if you don’t go there. And if you say a few words, then you draw flak because you are having so-called connection with the sect, but in reality you haven’t of course, because you’re Shinto or Buddhism member here in Japan, but only want to calm down that loud sect a bit and show naive commitment for world peace and such. In this sense, we should see that problem a bit more pragmatic and of course consider it very much overestimated and hyped for other reasons.

LDP to update list of members

that’s kinda like a drunk on keeping tabs on his hotel honor bar…….

what’s the point? It’ll just be a fabricated joke anyway.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

worthless move.

ban moonies now.freeze their funds bank accounts, take them offline and out of their "business"-why waiting and what for LDP is waiting?

until will get approvel under 10% of voters?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

I doubt the LDP will take any serious action against the UC.

Doing so would mean they'd eventually have to do something about the Soka Gakkai as well.

HAHAAHA! Brilliant!

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Yeh…We are going to update you but do nothing about it as usual…hurry up and forget about it too…as usual!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

It’s the same as the Yakuza . Everyone knows they are involved in the government but the LDP makes it as vague as possible to move on members while looking like they are doing something.

Police have a database of all the members, where they live and are headquartered but won’t move on them. Making arbitrary laws like “members have to admit to being in a gang if they want to sign up for a bank account” or “can only be arrested if there are 5+ members together at a time”

I think that's completely missing the point. People are annoyed because this particular religious sect has been strongarming gullible members into shelling out millions of yen for worthless junk. It's been obvious for many years to anyone who looked into this group that it's a blatant con, and politicians who were connected to them in any way certainly should have looked into them. The only conclusion to be drawn is that they decided to accept the donations and the church members who voted for them or volunteered to help with election campaigns, and decided to turn a blind eye.

As I've written before the free press index of Japan is very low so hard hitting reports on the LDP would not get printed bc the press and media are heavily influenced by the LDP. of course the Abe assassination is too big to put a lid on it.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

I'm surprised that none of the downvoters have anything to say for themselves. The fact that they can't or won't reads like they are tacitly admitting all the criticism of the LDP is justified.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

A shorter list list would be LDP members with no affiliation, or at least very securely hidden.

I know who controls the LDP. I simply said I couldn't believe it.
