Was just soundly rejected in a pronouncement from NK leadership yesterday unless the LDP objectives are changed.
The vast majority of Japanese see inflation as the major burden; only a rentier class are hurt by 'deflation' of asset holdings, balanced by easy money QE and corporate subsidies. As usual the LDP goal-setting is orthogonal to the needs of the public.

Spoken like a true politician.

Kishi san can smell the start of a money trail leading to the DPRK-he knows what to do….

Just a groundless allegation and fiction as usual. how old are the ghosts??

NK and deflation an odd combination. NK has clear vision, BRICS and de-dollarization, no interest in US satellite Democracy. NK has no sovereign debt either, so their future is not mortgaged to the hilt like Japan.
NK looks at Japan, sees EXACTLY path not to pursue. They prefer their independence within the partnership framework of BRICS they seek to join.

"In September 2002, North Korea admitted that it had abducted Japanese citizens and apologized"

according to the wiki info, japan does not trust NK even if WIKIPEDIA said that North Korea provided death certificates.
what is the point of the meeting then? talk about ghosts?
it is believed that Japan which was the WAR aggressor is using an excuse to tease NK, change topics, and will do so forever....

These decades long promises from politicians are a cruel reoccurring joke that most would have to admit can and will never eventuate. The families suffer the most by being strung along in hope, only to be let down time and time again. The ‘gambarimasu’ appeal for political purpose, if that’s what it is, is reprehensible.
I know Japan ( actually the individual families are ) is the victim here, but please Kishidasan, don’t dangle these carrots again if you aren’t going to deliver. Kim’s sister the other day didn’t exactly sound like things were looking up.

Is deflation still a problem? I believe the problem is now inflation caused by the plummeting yen.

Yes, when you people are starving to death, you are the winner!!!

The point is that North Korea may be willing to provide more evidence to reasolve this issue for good.
LOL...WAR aggressor. The entire Korean Penninsula was part of the Japanese Empire from 1910-1945 and Koreans served in the Japanese Imperial armed forces, fighting the Allies. Quite a number of them were convicted as War Criminals afterwards. A little study of history might help.

Just call balls and strikes, NK has clear path to prosperity, they're all in on multi-polar BRICS, Japan's wasting its time. Best to open up markets slowly and engage in win:win, not diplomatic, build real goodwill.
Jim West
Most Japanese would welcome deflation and the government wouldn't have to subsidize high costs like energy. Japan is in a hard place - you cant raise interest rates a lot as you couldn't afford the payments on its debt, so a weak yen will persist. Japan needs to control spending.

Korea was annexed by the Empire of Japan after years of war. you justify by yourself that Japan was the aggressor.

How?
He's gonna give up his extremely not worth it salary and wasteful per diem?
How?
The LDP and useless CEOs are gonna disappear?

Sounds like a meeting between the two is the best course of action.
Or... you can just give in to the old mistrust, and it will never happen, so back to sleep.
Fighto!
North Korea is a rogue, terror state. They can never be trusted. There should be no meetings with Fatboy until they cease selling weapons to fascist Russia that kill innocent children, women and men in Ukraine.
No dealing with terrorists.

NK not interested in US satellite Democracy, they wish to preserve their way of life, while engaging world thru the non-domestic interference partnership format of BRICS.
They're on their way, especially as they've established a serious nuclear deterrence. Far better for Japan and others to pursue engagement of NK in a constructive manner, especially once their admitted into the BRICS.
It turns out LOTS of countries like NK, do not want to be ravaged by $ based global inflation and/or deflation. BRICS allows member countries to use their currencies.
