Kishida pledges $500 mil in financial support to Africa

That's one way to piss away 500 million.

Why would Japan just make a bank transfer of $500 million? It ends up lining the pockets of people in control. Instead, loan them the money to build Shinkansen and train lines and have them pay Japanese companies that go and build it there using Japanese technology. Hire locals. Develop infrastructure.

Kishida pledged Monday during a meeting with Ghana's leader to provide around $500 million in financial support to Africa over the next three years 

This does not translate to "here's $500 million, try not to spend it all at once".

I am sure there are more fine details either not yet established or not mentioned in this article.

Surely, some combination of humanitarian and economic development, Food Inflation TOUGH now with record LEVELS Starvation across Africa, undeveloped world, etc.

and at least not ARMS to Generals and Warlords like US, China, Russia, etc.

All the cash being thrown around by the Japanese Government run by old men who are making decisions without any thought of the future since they won’t be alive. Many average Japanese live pay to pay with little to none savings and are struggling to make ends meet! Many eat only one or two meals of tiny size ( some just onigiri or rice and natto ) just to try to save up some money! It’s a shame that the average Japanese work so hard and can’t even eat a proper meal except when they are out with friends! And the Government keeps wasting their tax money!!! When the pension system collapse eventually then the Japanese will finally wake up and vote the LDP out of power!!! Unfortunately it will be too little too late by then!

Japan is not “giving” $500 million to Africa, it is giving $500 million to Japanese companies who will supposedly send $500 million worth of vehicles, machinery, etc, to Africa. What we are seeing is corporate welfare disguised as foreign aid.

If it was his own private money, ok, but so. It’s something like burning down a parking house with all the cars in it. That would be normally considered a severe crime.

If there was a country called Africa I would say keep your feeling sorry, hypocritical, and unashamed yen to yourself sir. Better help the suffering local people here in Japan with it.

Just because you pledge it doesn't mean you have to actually pay it these days.
