Former Khmer Rouge top general, who now allegedly murders, tortures and imprisons any political opponents, is discussing Russia, which is the only country in the world to protect citizens of Donbass. Hehehe.

Former Khmer Rouge top general,

eh? Hun Sen was instrumental in deposing Pol Pot (Khmer Rouge), with help from Vietnam.

China was the backer of Pol Pot, but Hun Sen is pragmatic, be lectured by US, or sellout to China, he obviously prefers selling out to China. Given Biden, leader of the freeworld has on occasions sold out to China, can you blame Hun Sen?

Kishida is paying tribute to the police officer who was killed by the Khmer Rouge in an ambush during peace keeping operations in Cambodia. Japanese government (LDP) sent unarmed civilian police who had no training in a combat zone on its first ever UN peace keeping operation. If I remember the original broadcast reporting, they were driving bumper to bumper in a convoy, RPG took out the first vehicle and it was a turkey shoot after that. A deadly fiasco for the naive government.

Hun Sen was instrumental in deposing Pol Pot.

I was actually in Cambodia around that time. He was a very top person, responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths. when he saw Pol Pots regime fall, turned-coat. PM ever since.

but I guess it’s OK though, research two time former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s grandfather, Kishi Nobusuke.

I was next door, in Vietnam right up until 75 (fall of saigon).

Hun Sen fought with KR during the civil war up to 75. He began to disagree with KR, particularly Pol Pot when the civil war was won/ended and started crossing the border into Vietnam since 75 to negotiate with the new commie Vietnam regime, and eventually convinced Vietnam to intervene in 77, ie to put a stop to the genocide (kiling fields 1975-1979).

He disagreed with the genocide from the start, he started engaging with the west when the commie Vietnamese withdrawn from Cambodia, and has only recently sold out to China, but he's not alone in doing so.

Hun Sen was a Khmer Rouge member, but fled and helped the Vietnamese overthrow them.

That's 50 years ago though. Right now, Cambodia has still a terrible human rights record and "investments" from China or Japan aren't going to change that. If anything, they can rely on terrible working conditions continuing so that they can produce cheap consumer goods.

Just more unproductive talks.

Japan funds Cambodia building bridges and etc as long as the contracts go to companies with their headquarters in Japan. Of course it's hardly just Japan but after USA and Germany, Japan is the next worst. China is the best of the major "foreign aid" donors.

Kishida, good for you getting out of Japan to visit your neighbors, being able to at least communicate with neighbors is worth a great deal.

meanwhile, the leader of the other country in the title, china, hasnt left the safety of his palace in years....when was the last time xi was seen overseas? maybe the pandemic, and the fact that it CAME from china, has something to do with it....

I think if Baby Ping Ping went to a big overseas conference there would be world leaders lining up to get in his face for the damage done to their nations by the Covid-19 pandemic.

I would never want to be seen in the same place with that butcher Hun Sen or his demon spawn anointed to replace him.
