Abe is like that kid you play video games with who constantly hits the reset button every time he's losing and says, that was just practice. This time it's for real!

You lost! Game over, man! Game over!

Shuffle, shuffle all you like, but it will not do you any good, Abe.....

Deck chairs on the Titanic, man...

@Mona Lisa haha yes exactly! I hate those guys. Reshuffling won't help this guy, quitting might help but then another crusty fart like Nikaido or Aso will take over and be the same old stuff

Titanic? Japan is hardly a sinking ship. Just because a ship isn't constantly accelerating doesn't mean it's sinking.

Japan is going to have to find a way to maintain a standard of living with less and older people. That can come from pivoting to more robotic automation in manufacturing and investment in new products in new globally growing markets, for example.

Abe should be concerned with reducing government costs and not thinking that fiddling with interest zero interest rates is the answer.

Abe! Bright idea! How about reviving that ever popular ABENOMICS! That'll fix the economy and restore popularity!

Reshuffle, Reshuffle, lose more vote share, but still refuse to do anything but bumble on with clearly unpopular ideas.

Ah politicians, if they actually cared about the good of the people they represent, rather than single issue crusades, in this case a rose tinted glass "return to glory", revisionist, view of Japan with a view to amending the constitution.

Oh S*&T...just thinking maybe he does want a war with NK to see if they can repeat the post war boom again.. loss of life be damned for the glory of the empire? I hope not.

Suga said the new cabinet's top priority would be reviving the economy,

Old cabinet, new cabinet, wont matter, things are not going to change with Abe in charge.

I wonder when Suga is going to get fed up with lying all the time?

I think Justice minister will. be replaced. Abe may have to ask Koike to return as Defense Minister.

How about creating. multiple-party cabinet? Recruit Renho?

do japanese people really give a rat's arse who is in the cabinet? they care about bread and butter issues and not about revising the damn constitution.

@dom i agree with you in that innovation and creativeness is required to turn around a country that has been declining for 22 years, but these old gentlemen will never have a grasp on the future, they live in the meiji era.

Maybe he'll get more support if he was actually working on the economy and changing the dark side of the Japanese society instead of trashing the constitution, helping friends to get licenses, building casinos and developing weapon businesses

Abe's last hope is that war breaks out with NK. That is also Donald's last hope. That's why war is coming...

@Civitas

"Abe's last hope is that war breaks out with NK. That is also Donald's last hope. That's why war is coming..."

Abe may have to ask Koike to return as Defense Minister.

not as defense minister but as party head, maybe that would win an election or approval ratings for them. that is the only thing

Deja vu. Not many will still be fooled again this time, surely?

There is no political musical chairs solution for a ruling government that has run out of policy solutions in every sector.

From the economy to depopulation. The fact that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe along with an increasingly hapless gaffe prone cabinet have stumbled from one crisis to the next failed to implement any promises or pledges from child care to social mobility or correcting the appalling disparity on equal pay is evidence enough that the electorate is crying out for a credible alternative.

It is being reported that the LDP Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Wataru Takeshta is arrogantly refusing direct opposition requests that former Defense Minister Tomomi Inada be summoned to testify formally over this alleged cover up of the loss of ground digital defense forces logs.

To quote Committee Chairman Wataru Takeshta, "Inada's resignation was the heaviest form of taking responsibility. We've deemed it inappropriate to summon a Cabinet minister who has stepped down".

The content of those logs could well impact directly on Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attempts to revise Japan revered pacifist constitution.

The scornful disdain in Tomomi Inada conceited and sneeringly supercilious discourtesy to the electorate is breathtaking.

Behaviour with a singular conclusive blunt instrument reasoning pointing to Inada being forced to resign, in an attempt to limit the political damage, most of all to bury at any cost a full inquiry.

Is he still thinking he is that Abe Super Mario?!

The reshuffle is a waste of time, replacing useless politicians with other useless politicians.

I'd normally say in situations like this an election should be called but the Japanese electorate will vote for the status quo, because they find change scary, and the usual suspects will be re-elected and nothing will change.

They dared to vote for change once, the Minshuto got in briefly and were a total embarrassment. Thanks to those jokers I do not think the public will let the opposition in power again for a loooooong time

The only thing Abe has done differently is talk lots and appoint a money printer at the BOJ.

I preferred former DPJ PM Noda.

True enough, the opposition needs to seriously sort itself out but shows no signs of doing so.
