I'm certainly not PM Kishida's biggest fan but good to see him visit the area and speak with evacuees.

Good lad.

Finally arrived and wearing the brand new workers' uniform to boot.

Wool pulled over one's eyes.......or what.

They're still wearing masks? I hope Kishida is going to do more than just "talk". These people need provisions and shelter.

As a Prime Minister is it acceptable to visit the earthquake hit region 14 days after the fact? I’m sure residents there are less than impressed with his “better late than never” visit. I think he’s let himself down here, but more over it’s just more of the same old Kishida.

They're still wearing masks?

The headline explains that

12 ( +18 / -6 )

"The prime minister said he takes the evacuee's conditions seriously and promised support."

Uh-oh... he has said that about a great many things he does NOT take seriously and has done nothing to support. And his showing up alleviates the suffering of the people how, exactly? I mean, I guess if he has waited this long after the disasters to stop by and "alleviate" the suffering, those who haven't died in the shelters yet are likely going to pull through anyway.

"risk of spreading infectious diseases, such as influenza, COVID-19" is not only at Noto peninsula.

And who caused "spreading infectious diseases" is nothing but Kishida Govt themselves.

His regime haven't yet been able to even decrease Covid19 deaths, but downgraded Covid19 last May to prioritize business, spread false social atmosphere as if Covid19 was weakened or ended, and still increasing victim.

Present whole of Japanese society is into domestic Covid19 10th wave.

Kishida is looking for support from the nation.

That photo is so stage managed…

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

Typical stuff. Put on the workman overalls and a staged photo op.

6 weeks from now this will all be long past the rear view mirror.

As his popularity is at the historic low, he is of course obliged to meet the affected people face to face. We will see whether or not his serious and strong initiatives in proving sufficient assistance will follow. Beyond the immediate response, the government should give urgent consideration to securing appropriate and sufficient preparedness. Reading the issues related to toilets in the shelters, for example, I have to wonder why no arrangements have been made in preparation for eventuality.

The fact that they are being preformative by wearing masks shows it is political theatre.

Too late, must be earlier..

But good anyway...

Are you kidding ?????

The earthquake happened January 1 and he is going there now - 2 weeks after the catastrophe ?

His commitment is a joke.

Isn't Prime Minister Fumio Kishida more than a little late visiting the major earthquake site two weeks later? What excuse does he have?

.

We will do everything we can so that you can have hope for the future," he [KISHADA] said.

We WILL ?????

He should be saying " We HAVE BEEN DOING EVERYTHING - and will continue to do so .

Not only so that the people can have a 'future and a hope' - BUT WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING NOW: by assigning Disaster Relief and medical teams as well as trauma counsellors , providing sufficient healthy food and water and clothing etc needed; and ensuring ALL survivors have appropriate, safe & comfortable lodgings.

Kishida, in his disaster-response uniform, which has been clean and unused in his closet for 2 weeks finally tries it on for a photo publicity stunt. To be honest, if I were one of those poor residents I would have told him to..........off. And I am being very serious here.
