I’m not keen on this offshore wind power lark. It’s environmentally unfriendly you see and spoils the view.

RE; concerns over potential overreliance on China for renewable energy supply chains, having set up an industry platform aimed at commercializing the nascent technology.

Setting up an industry platform to counteract China's lead in windturbine technology is too little too late.

They are building massive 18 megawatt turbines (1 machine can power 400,000 houses, approx 826 foot diameter) which are being chosen by the Germans over German technology. Delivery and installation in 4 years.

According to data from Wood Mackenzie, China now has four of the top five wind turbine manufacturers with Vestas being the only Western manufacturer in the top five.

The U.S. also heavily rely on Chinese made solar or wind energy Equipments. Your measure is in vain!

it spoils the view? Seriously! And what do you suggest we do ? Go nuclear? Go gas? Go solar? How about tidal? Go back to horse and cart?

every si gle one has a negative impact somewhere. Down the chain. I see so many greens wanting their cake and eat it. More green energy but I don’t want one in my back yard cause I was a lovely view. Wind will also increase bird strikes. Tidal will impact sea life, solar will take up land space. Nuclear self explanatory. Gas self explanatory. Hydrogen? Too expensive and even more damaging. Spoil my view! Omg!

I must repeat to myself. Must not reply to such people.

China’s subsidizing of their renewable energy sector would be easier to accept if they weren’t still building coal powered electricity generators.

Don't kid yourself or others. Only offshore power?? Its everything. Easier job in the world. Japan foreign minister.

How much of the offshore can you see from your Osaka apartment?

Japan could generate 20-30% of power from offshore wind.

608 GW of offshore wind capacity. That would be 50%.

Japan also became the first international partner of the United States in an initiative aiming to reduce the cost of floating offshore wind by more than 70 percent, to $45 per megawatt-hour, by 2035 for deep water sites far from shore.

China has already achieved $50/megawatt-hour, wonder what will it cost them in 2035?

Still, no worries, Japanese consumers like their high energy bills. Not.
