About what year was it, and what was the name of the person who married into the Ryukyu royal family?

I was just about to ask this question.

@What ol' Jack Burton always says

China gave the Ryukyu kingdom it's own military navy and they had guns and gunpowder long before Europe and Japan.

I didn't know that the Chinese fleet was protecting Ryukyu.

When did it start and when did it end? Who is the dispatched commander?

In 1609, the Japanese Satsuma clan attacked Ryukyu, but how did the Chinese fleet respond at that time?

The royal Chinese bloodline was mixed with with Ryukyuan royalty purposefully.

I didn't even know that the Ryukyu royal family had a daughter-in-law from China.

About what year was it, and what was the name of the person who married into the Ryukyu royal family?

Is that kind of history taught in China?

Regardless of creed , color ,identify , gender , or nationality everyone has the right to comment or have an opinion on any such article whether they live in the area of reported article or not.

I agree with this statement. But when people appoint themselves experts and no longer present comments or their opinions and parrot fake or misleading information that it becomes irritating. I have no illusions about changing anyone's mind on anything on this site, but it is interesting to see what is being pushed as the truth.

We don't pay tax dollars in Japan.

Gov. Tamaki, appeasing the oppressors is not solid foreign policy. China is not your friend.

For those that think this is a good thing, read the very last sentence carefully again.

His reference to the kingdom has triggered speculation that Beijing might cast doubt on Okinawa's status as a Japanese territory as a warning to Japan regarding its involvement in matters related to Taiwan.

Oh and the suffering I have experienced here is from fools who dont know what they are talking about.

I agree. If you don't live here and see the propaganda that is pushed daily by the government and media, you cannot fathom the gap in perception and reality, The vast majority of the Okinawa people just want to get on with their daily lives, have meaningful jobs, raise their children and lead a comfortable life. Instead they get reminded of WWII everyday by the local TV stations and newspapers, told how they are being discriminated against and how much better things would be without American bases. The really frustrating part of this is the people outside Okinawa who don't have a clue, chiming in with expert opinions which end up supporting the very political machine that is the cause.

Denny Tamaki is a left-wing politician who would like to belong to China along with former member of the House of Representatives, Ozawa, but the residents do not want that at all.

The political machine that keeps the communist party in power on Okinawa cannot function without Chinese money. You cannot become governor of Okinawa unless you are part of that machine. This party has placed the welfare of the Okinawa people last and ensured Okinawa is dead last as a prefecture. Denny and his cronies burn through an enormous amount of money from the Japanese and American governments and have very little to show for it.

Many countries, including Japan, paid tribute to China, but it was only for trade and far from obedience.

Okinawa also paid tribute for trade with China, but I have to say that it is wrong to say that Okinawa is Chinese territory for that reason.

Okinawa now needs more than 300 billion yen in taxes from the Japanese government every year, and even if it becomes independent, it cannot do it alone.

In the first place, after World War II, it was the people of Okinawa who strongly desired to belong to Japan.

It seems that he disliked the attribution of a communist state without freedom to China.

Another gravy train trip for our man Denny.

As a historical tributary both to Chinese dynasties and Satsuma Clan, Japan, Okinawa may have some role to mediate disputes, if there is any, between China and Japan.

Quit for decency's sake. Stop selling out Japan for a few yens more.

Free trip paid for by china no doubt

And the last Ryukyu tribute mission to China was in the mid-late 19th century. This is much better than an occupying Japanese (or American) military.

This is all history

Okinawa has never been independent except 1429 to 1879. As a chain islands with small population, it has been exploited and bullied by both US and Japan. In old days, two bully boys were warlords dominated Japan and Ming dynasty China. Later was less evil.

Research your history a little better! The Ryukyus were paying tribute to China back in the mid 1300's , yet from the way you write here, that's like yesterday to you now. This is all history.

As a non native resident, who has never been suffered and humiliated should not lecture and dominate on natives.

Interesting concept here, so the national government of Japan, by your opinion or ideas, has no right to dictate anything that happens in Okinawa?

Oh and the suffering I have experienced here is from fools who dont know what they are talking about.

Now we somehow get the idea who is funding the Anti- bases agenda in Okinawa

Not every anti-military sentiment is from China. Many have advocated for Pacifism and for upholding article 9, which neither china nor the US have.

"Okinawa isnt playing at independence. No one with even 1/10th of a brain is suggesting it!"

The course of Okinawa trade and diplomatic relations is not depending on others.

Here's a voice of reason in the region. While at the same time the LDP dispatches officials to talk to North Korea.

Good.

Both China and Okinawa can play at independence as much as they want. It doesn't even have the de facto independence that Taiwan has.

The governor also said in the interview published Monday, "We cannot allow Okinawa to become an easier target for attack simply because U.S. military bases are concentrated here," adding local residents believe "Okinawa must never again become a battlefield."

Time for a serious dose of reality here Denny. I suppose you would rather have China keep bases here than the US OR Japan!

Another deliberately offensive and disrespectful comment towards the Japanese nation and people this time by TokyoLiving.
