Excellent choice, Japan. A guy who should be sitting in dock at the Hague.

Disgusting war profiteer.

The only decoration he deserves will be the satin upholstery inside his coffin.

Didn’t he shoot his mate in the face with a shotgun and then participate in the death of up to 500,000 Iraqi, mostly civilians? Didn’t over a billion dollars “go missing” in reconstruction contracts his company was one of the main beneficiaries.

nah, surely can’t be the same guy.

Looks like a bunch of people get all their historical information from a liberal, progressive moviemaker.

i.e. Most of the world who aren't American Fox viewers. A big bunch.

As Jc said above, this creature should long be in the slammer but here lets decorate him, ("a fellow traveler")?

Japan will never cease to surprise me.

He should be in prison for treason. The big lie of 911 and the WMD of Iraq.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Him, Bush, Bush-Daddy and a few others really did more damage to this Earth than is measurable. Japan needs to check its head if they think he is worth pinning any award on.

This also proves my point about Japan not being socially ready to change their constitution. The leaders here still adore war-mongers and war-criminals. It would be a bad idea remove the safety.

Darknuts, does America have a left? I think it has a right and an extreme right.

I recently read that a Cheney linked company has just got the rights to drill for oil in the Golan Heights. HE never gives up.

I agree with everyone else who says he does not deserve an award.

He along with Rumsfeld and GWB started wars that took more American lives than 911, and I say that because so many Americans think that only American lives are important and will happily go along with the mass murder of people in other countries.

Gotta admit. Tricky Dick played it smart. Don't be the President. Be the guy behind the President, pulling the strings. That way you get all the power without the target on your back.

The Iraq war drove home how the world really works.

The Bush administration was not only wrong, but VASTLY wrong, at the cost of untold billions and thousands of killed or maimed US soldiers. Many still carry scars to this day, some visible, some invisible. [To say nothing of Iraqi civilians.]

And what happened?

Bush is contently enjoying his retirement, free from consequences.

Bolton is still peddling his wares inside the White House, when he should have been cast out from polite society instead.

Condoleeza Rice got a membership at Augusta National for her troubles, along with a lifetime of cushy academic and speaking gigs.

Cheney gets a new heart and is feted by national governments.

Haven't heard from Rumsfeld recently but I'd guess that he is doing just fine.

Their children and grandchildren will live lives of immense luxury and privilege.

Lesson learned? You can never go wrong in America, as long as you are a right-wing warmonger.

I left the US and moved to Japan because of Cheney Co.'s invasion of Iraq. That's when I was finally done with the US and became a-political.

George W (Weapons of Mass Deception) Bush and his cohorts should have been tried as war criminals. On of them is John Bolton.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

well it seems Japan surely have a 'thing' for war criminals. Or else how can you be this much out of touch? Face.Palm

This evil jerk loves torture just like Donnie Douschbag does. And it was this guy and his war profiteering who have turned Iraq into a new Northern Ireland, feeding a new military-industrial complex Ike warned about in 1961. And many of my veteran friends are disabled for life because of this imbecile. And Rumsfeld told them they had to 'make do with what they had', which was defective half the time.

Cheney and Dumbya are war criminals. They deserve no 'honor' except warrants to appear at UN tribunals at The Hague!

In the eyes of envious, revanchist, right-wing Japanese politicians the "Darkside" Dick's long list of unprosecuted crimes and extremist rhetoric do not disqualify him from being "honored" by Abe's shower of fawning flunkies with fascistic tendencies who still refuse to sincerely admit to the war crimes committed in the name of the Showa Emperor. No surprise to discover that birds of a feather flock together.

@Serrano

You like Japanese politics more?

In my comment I stated that I am a-political.

You can move back to the U.S. now, TIJ, Trump had nothing to do with Iraq and is eventually going to get us out of there. We're well on our way out of Syria now.

No, thank you. None of that concerns me anymore.

I do not vote because that is just a validation tool for the shadow government. Yes, he is a puppet of the Money Masters and behind the wars for unjust profits. Short of Satan’s right hand. In fact, all presidents follow a scrypt from the Money Masters. If they deviate, they end up being killed like Kennedy, Lincoln, and others.

Can’t agree more, along with Kissenger! Funny how these conservatives are just fine with no bid contracts from VPs who just sat on the board of that corporation, and Halliburton then charging outlandish rates for rotten food and for showers which ended up electrocuting soldiers. Now, if this was under a democratic president, they would have rained hell down on the democrats.

FYI, Cheney's partner in war Donald Rumsfeld was decorated with the same honor by the Japanese government in 2015. But the mother of all head-scratchers by the Japanese government has to be the awarding of the Grand Cordon in 1964 to U.S. General Curtis LeMay--one of the primary advocates and architects of the March 1945 firebombing of Tokyo that killed some 100,000 civilians in one night. LeMay was awarded by the Japanese government less than 20 years after that atrocity for helping the country develop a modern air force in the postwar era.

Can we all please dispense with the nonsense that Japan is a "pacifist" country because of Article 9? When you decorate the likes of LeMay, Rumsfeld, and Cheney with government awards your country sure isn't pacifist.

He sure has a target on his back here.

Or a left-wing warmonger.

I'm far from a bleeding heart liberal, especially nowadays but Cheney is one of the reasons the country took such a far left turn after Bush. People were fed up with the Right, and rightly so. Little did they know, that the Left was just as bad if not worse.
