China is not asserting rights when it attempts to steal territory and uses coercion and bullying to get something it is not entitled to.

China is force for good in the world.

Nobody ever actually "wins" a war... They just lose fewer young men than the other side does.

At the conclusion of WWII the territory of Germany, Italy and Japan were under allied occupation. The people of those three nations had no government other than the allied occupation administration and their economies were destroyed. Whole cities were flattened. They were no longer sovereign nations but wards of the allies. The outcome of a war is much more than just comparing the body counts. The Soviets lost a lot more people than the Germans did yet in the end they prevailed over Germany and ended up controlling more than a third of Germany's territory including their capital city. The division of territory occupied by the USSR and the allies when the last shot was fired in WWII set the stage for the Cold War that followed and continues to affect the world with the division of Korea. It also set the stage for Mao to defeat Chiang Kai-shek and all the problems the world faces today with modern China. At the conclusion of WWI, the Austro Hungarian and Ottoman Empires ceased to exist. The Ottoman Empire was carved up into the nations of the Middle East we know today, along with Turkey, modern Armenia, Greece and the Balkan states. The winners of those wars reshaped the world. It is a lot more than simply who lost more of their people. Imagine the world today if the Nazis and Imperial Japan had prevailed over the Allies. Now imagine a world where Japan and Korea are under Chinese control. Who wins a war matters greatly but more importantly, learn that deterrence can prevent an aggressive nation from starting a big war that reshapes the world. If you like what you have now, put fourth the energy to defend it because if you do not you can lose it all. My family knows a little bit about that when the Red Guards took everything.

By 2030 China's population decline will look like a free fall. It is highly doubtful China's economy in 2030 will be able to support the growing elderly population as its working age population shrinks rapidly ( a decline that began in 2014 btw ). UK, US, Australia and Canada will take a lot of hard working and entrepreneurial people from Hong Kong. The US, Australia and Canada have the great advantage of their immigrant traditions. Those immigrants will keep their population numbers up and their demographics relatively young. Nobody wants to immigrate to China. In the long term China's demographics doom her to a long period of economic stagnation and eventual decline.

I also forgot to mention that at the conclusion of WWI, Japan gained control of all of Germany's island holdings in the Pacific. That mattered greatly. It the stage for Japan's early hegemony in the Pacific, leading to the great naval battles and bloody invasions of those islands in the course of WWII.

She needs to strengthen her naval presences around the world! China is definitely unlike Japan that is totally rely on U.S. naval for the sake of survival! Once they address the Uighur human rights abuse issue, the human rights issues on their dissidents, intellectual property theft, Taiwan, human rights abuse in Hong Kong, dispute with its regional neighbors in the South China sea, cyberattacks issue on the US, then maybe we can call them a force for good.

The US doesn't have over 100 "fishing boats" tied rail to rail blocking access to a Philippine island. The US isn't "warning" the Philippine Coast Guard not to conduct training exercises inside their own EEZ. You have misidentified the bully in the region.

The US would declare war on China under the terms of the US and Japan Mutual Defense and Assistance Agreement and it would not end well for the Chinese. Ultimately I don't think the Chinese want to go there and if the US, Japan and other allied nations can arm up sufficiently and be patient, China's miserable demographics will in time weaken China and reduce the threat greatly. This is China's peak. Their future is not good.

Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, all US allies, also have much of their trade passing through the South China Sea. All are dependent to differing degrees on the same oil sources as China.. The Allies have every right to keep naval power along those sea lanes to protect vital shipping. China is not the only nation with a vital interest to keep the South China Sea and Straits of Malacca open to shipping.
