Well, this had to happen after Tachibana found that anything including ads for porn sites could be put on election posters. Even though it brought some hilarity to the boring election process.

From especially last year, political disinformation or harassment through social media or its spreading were rapidly actived in Japan, those already "succeeded" to distort election and corner political opponent to suicide. But regulation against them has been postponed.

From about decade before at least, ruling party LDP had made companies spread disinformation about opposition parties through anonymous accounts that pretended general public.

It's no wonder even if upper house election this summer will be full of disinformation or slander.

causing concern that the election process was being undermined for personal gain.

....as opposed to the selfless altruism which, we all know, usually drives people to seek public office.
