Sanctions, always a better choice than bombing children.

Japan supports tough sanctions, but continues to trade. Japan is concerned about a "barbaric war", then accepts 20 refugees. Japans comfort zone really is being disrupted.

check todays rate of ruble and calculate/think how sanctions have affected Russia as whole.

two days ago some japanese minister said that without russian oil and gas japanese economy will go down at very fast pace...so yes just do more sanctions...common sense sayonara

I would wish they would more act by simple logic. Of course only or mostly the West, means countries which have a vivid economy, are affected by sanctions by boycotts themselves, not a country like Russia that almost hasn’t an economy. For only a single anti-Putin demonstration those idiots would commit global suicide, I guess.

Japan will be disposed like as a garbage bag by the US and E.U. when it is no longer aligned with our interests. Kishida shouldn't trust 1 inch in E.U.

Japan has much to gain from adopting a neutral stance like India's.

My prices are up but most of my customers suddenly hate me, stopped buying and my reviews are terrible.

yay (waves small flag). /s

Japan cannot decide on her own how to deal with the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Astonishingly in spite of pressure from overseas Japan is still much less involved than the EU member states who are running with eyes wide open from one crisis to the next.

Japan is offical still at war with Russia because they didnt sign the peace after the war .. so give Japan some nukes and get those island back to save the native japanse that are discriminated at those islands .. the same as Russia does at Ukraine !!

20 was the number who applied and came when FM Hayashi visited Poland. There were over 400 Ukranian refugess in Japan back on April 5th. Probably more now since the J-gov eliminated the initial requirement that the refugee status applicant had family or contacts in Japan. That is no longer necessary. The low number relative to European nations reflects the fact that few Ukranians would choose a country in the Far East with language and cultural difficulties.

you do know that an official report by the UN predicts 400,000,000 people will die from starvation and associated consequences because of the Ultranationalist Ukrainian government’s desire to not be neutral. All these women, children men, not just in Ukraine, but economies in EU and the rest of the world. just because of Ukraine. Europeans will freeze this winter. Civilian genocide continues in The republic of Donbass with Western weapons. Civilians killed in bordering Russian villages.

The leaders are maskless including the Japanese PM.

But try walking around your neighborhood alone and with no one near you.People stare at you with eyes that can lynch you.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The Global free world do fully take into account the EU and Japan energy contracts are fully financing Russian Government war in Ukraine, that has proven to be genocide, coupled with the continued war crimes,

I find that photo a despicable display of hypocrisy and double standards.

I do it every morning on the bike with one of the dogs. Plenty of social distancing. Nothing but smiles.

Then I put the mask on and join a friend for a joint dog-walk. She's the one who makes comments about how glad she'll be when masks are no longer needed. I agree with her, of course.

All these women, children men, not just in Ukraine, but economies in EU and the rest of the world. just because of Ukraine.

Yeah, really selfish of them not to want to be killed by orcs.

Can you not come up with anything better, like maybe Zelensky eats babies for breakfast? How much is moscow paying you? Coz it looks like they're wasting their money.

400,000,000 people will die from starvation and associated consequences because of the Ultranationalist Ukrainian government’s desire to not be neutral.

Who could possibly logically arrive at such a mental conclusion.

[checks name]

Ah, right.

Desire not to be neutral? That’s a new one.

400 million people will die because Ukraine fought back?

What percentage of the world population is that Rodney? Give your brain a little stretch.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

If it’s an official report, you’ll of course be able to provide a link. Thanks Rodney.

Ukraine will get unlimited supplies of weapons from the US and the NATO countries. Un-used new stocks! And too little too late! BUT, Ukraine is running out of soldiers and civilian fighters everyday. That is the reality. How long can Ukraine last? Ukraine is like a patient being placed in a hospice. This patient will eventually die because he is not given or he does not have the medication to fight the disease offensively. The patient is only given drugs to smooth or control damage. On the other hand, I am disappointed at Russia for fighting a modern time war in the WW2 style. Hundreds of tanks and thousands of soldiers. Totally exposed like in a parade. These are easy targets that could be taken out in one day if a western country stepped in to fight Russia. I just wonder what the world, especially the world economy, will be like after Russia takes over Ukraine.

“Security in Europe and in the Indo-Pacific are inseparable,” Kishida said.

Seems he needs a good lesson in geography. Here is Europe way over here and here is the Indo-Pacific way over here. Separated by ... wait for it ... the Middle East and an ocean.

You cannot just sanction Russia. Think about what Russia would do to retaliate economically once they take Ukraine. No grain, no gas, and no oil to the NATO countries? Or raise the prices a whole lot? Devastating. Remember the infamous 1930 Hawley-Smoot Tariff in the US to discourage or stop imports and the entire world was up in arms to retaliate by matching and/or exceeding what the US was doing. I believe the tariff was truly the root cause of the Great Depression. Of course, nobody wants to talk about that. Just blame the stock market at the time. I hope the war will end soon and stop dragging all the European countries into deeper conflict with Russia. Those countries simply cannot afford it. No grains, no eggs, and no gas!

It's interesting to see the power of the United States to behind-the-scenes strong arm so many countries 'leaders' into lockstep disregard for their own country's own best interests for no benefit except to the U.S. and its hegemonic ambitions really. Perhaps a kudos to the CIA and their ability to capture 'background information' and/or intimidation. And, given America's past history of supporting the WORST monsters all over the world to pursue its own greed-driven foreign policy over the decades, it would not be surprising to see even greater support for the zelenshyy gang if zelenshyy were revealed to be a resurrected Hitler in a fatsuit and T-shirt. And if evidence were needed as to the SLANT of this article that ignores BLATANT atrocious American behavior that we see in the media daily...

"Japanese Foreign Ministry officials said the EU's move reflects a major shift away from China amid growing concerns over Beijing’s human rights issues and other problems in the region."

Other than the now completely burned out and impotent 'British Empire', no people has committed more crimes against Humanity, both internally and externally, in the last 1000 years than the United States, or is more deceptive in its accusations nor more convincing to the impoverished mind.

Very glad Japanese people are wise enough to put Mr Kishida in charge. I'm impressed Kishida is able to smile for the camera whilst pretending to promote shared values with unelected, unaccountable EU leaders (dictators).

Effective leadership of a functioning democracy requires skills to deal with pretenders like the EU, and Kishida has them in spades.

WB - I have to admit, this is the first time I have ever heard about Alaska declaring war on the US? Where did you hear that? Or how did you come up with this?

Japan, EU agree to step up sanctions against Russia,

So, I'm really glad that in EU&Japan there are no other problems.

Russia is a really great country, I'm serious - it last years nobody talking about anything except more sanctions against Russia. No more other problems at all.

Vladimir Putin like supermen resolve all the questions on this little planet - and only one question rest.

V. Putin himself.

I'm really glad and happy.
